Spoofing such airline disaster films such as Airport films, Airplane! featured several actors who had previously only been cast in serious roles, including Peter Graves, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, and Leslie Nielsen.

An old lady on the plane is seen holding a Colt New Service when passengers line up with various weapons to "calm down" an unruly passenger.
