Katyn is a 2007 World War II drama directed by Andrzej Wajda. The film tells one of the darkest events of Polish history: the massacre of 22,500 Polish soldiers and civilians carried out by the Soviet secret police NKVD in 1940. The axis of the film are the stories of women who lost their husbands, brothers, sons. Some of them also come into Soviet captivity, others are looking for evidence of their survival, others is apathetically resigned to the worst. The film was nominated in 2008 for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
