M1 Carbine
Sonny (Al Pacino) swings an M1 Carbine throughout Dog Day Afternoon. Many of the police that surround the bank also carry M1 Carbines with an extended 30 round magazine.
S&W 76 submachine gun
The SMG that Sal carries is a Smith & Wesson 76 submachine gun which is based on the Swedish Carl Gustav m/45.
.38 Revolver
A .38 S&W revolver is seen in a stash box on the drivers door of the van used to transport the hostages to the Airport and is used later by the FBI to shoot Sal.
