The Front Line (Korean title: Gojijeon/고지전) is a 2011 South Korean war film directed by Hun Jang. In the closing months of the Korean War, a South Korean Lieutenant (Ha-Kyun Shin) is sent to the eastern Aerok Hills to investigate the mysterious death of a company commander and uncover a suspected mole. There, he encounters an old friend (Soo Ko) leading troops and becomes involved in the battles to secure the Hills before the impending ceasefire.
A North Korean officer points a Tokarev TT-33 at Lieutenant Kang Eyun-Po (Ha-Kyun Shin) when he tries to prevent his friend Kim Soo-Hyeok (Soo Ko) from being dragged away from North Korean soldiers during a flashback to the early days of the Korean War.
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is the standard sidearm for South Korean officers, and is used by Lt. Kang, acting Captain Shin Il-Young (Je-Hoon Lee) and replacement Captain Jae-Oh.
Cha Tae-Kyung (Ok-Vin Kim) uses a camouflaged Mosin Nagant with a PU 3.5x sight as her main weapon.
Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine
Some North Korean soldiers are armed with Mosin Nagant M44 Carbines, distinguishable by their side-folding bayonets.
Mosin Nagant M1891
A few North Koreans use earlier Mosin Nagant M1891 rifles. These rifles can be identified by the slightly raised handguard and Konovalov style rear sight.
Machine Guns
Browning M2 HB (M51 Quad Mounted System)
In an early scene, an attack is launched against a North Korean unit which has captured a South Korean Anti-Aircraft battery featuring Browning M2 machine guns in a M51 Quad Mounted System.
South Korean troops frequently use the Mk 2 hand grenade, first to destroy the recaptured AA position and later during the battles for the Aerok Hills.
Stick Grenade
North Korean troops use stick grenades during the battles.
