Crackshot wants to make a page for The Battle of Long Tan, which appears to be a documentary with re-enactments. Crackshot has told me that this is similar to Kokoda (2010), which appears to have been allowed. I'm not really sure now, because there are obviously a lot of History Channel-type documentaries that do re-enactments as well and I don't believe these are eligible. If you think this new page should stay, please let me know. --Ben41 05:05, 15 May 2012 (CDT) | Crackshot wants to make a page for The Battle of Long Tan, which appears to be a documentary with re-enactments. Well of course I bow to your experience since you actually photographed it and handeled it. I was going off of the photo - that weird front sight and the short grip. From the photo it looks like it was chopped by a gunsmith somewhere along the line and possibly the barrel was changed, but when I look at the group photo of the three actors it does look like Efram is holding a Colt Detective Special - judging by the scale. I've never heard of a Colt DS in 32 caliber, but then I suppose a good smith wouldn't have too much trouble converting a DS to a .32 caliber configuration. I have no issue with you making the change. You're there and I'm not. I pride myself on not being an idiot. Well not to often.--Jcordell 16:58, 18 May 2012 (CDT) |

Timecop Automatic Machine Pistol
Just wondering if you had any idea what firearm the Timecop Machine Pistol was built around. I've been told that it's not a TEC 9, AP-9 or Spectre M4. --Ben41 20:47, 13 March 2012 (CDT)
Finctional Weapons
YOU BLANKED THE PAGE! WAHOOOO! Now it will load! :-) SO quick question for ya. What are the rules governing whether a fictional weapon gets its own page? I read the info on IMFDB Info: Fictional Firearms and it makes perfect sense, but it seems more about whether the gun is mentioned on the site or not. I'm particularly curious about the (America's Army 3) - Grenade Series. These grenades are used in 1 video game and are clearly based on real world grenades. It seems to me that they don't need to have their own page if they are just used in this one game. I'd love to hear your thoughts. :-) --Zackmann08 20:42, 18 March 2012 (CDT)
SVD
I fixed the SVD page a while back; someone had changed the caption on your image of the Tiger Carbine you own to claim it was an SVD-M a couple of years back. What I'm curious about is the one we have labelled as SVD-S at present; is that one a Tiger Carbine too (as it was orginally captioned)? Evil Tim 12:21, 3 April 2012 (CDT)
- Don't know. That one was a google search image and I'm not an expert on SVD rifles. Sure, I own them, but I have not researched them. IMFDB requires a magnitude higher of scholastic research than my job actually requires. hahahahahahah. I just know the rudimentary background on most guns, and then take them to the movie set, etc. etc. etc. :) MoviePropMaster2008 12:39, 3 April 2012 (CDT)
I need you or another admins help, my other account was blocked wrongfully.
Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with an issue I am having. Admin "Evil Tim" blocked me for no reason thinking I was some guy named "Burt", which I am not, my name is Danny. I tryed to contact him about it on my blocked account "Glock17gen4", but it wouldnt let me so I'm forced to use this account I made. I tryed to contact him and I have no received a reply, I think he is ignoring the msg or something. I was wondering if you could help and unblock my other account, thanks. About admin Evil Tim
Hello. I posted on Talk:1968 Tunnel Rats page but Evil Tim reverted my post just a few minutes later. This is not the first time he had conflict with users, his actions forced another old-time user Mr. Wolf to quit. He likes declaring people trolls without a firm reason. Can something be done about it? :\ --Masterius 09:16, 14 April 2012 (CDT)
- Unhelpful political commentary which has nothing to do with improving a page does not belong. Unless you can explain why saying America "trembles before China" has anything to do with improving the page "1968 Tunnel Rats" or serves any purpose but annoying people, I'll say it's trolling and doesn't belong. In general treating talk pages as a general discussion forum does not belong since we have an actual forum for that.
- Mr. Wolf quit because he couldn't accept that a formatting idea only he subscribed to made pages look random and messy. I was sad to see he couldn't get past that weird quirk, since he was a good contributor, and I was sad to see him go. Don't you dare try to invoke him to justify what you're doing. Exclusives
I contacted E. James Small a while back about the blaster props used in Battlefield Earth and he very kindly gave me a couple of extra shots of partially assembled guns. I don't think these are up anywhere else. Evil Tim 11:16, 14 April 2012 (CDT)
Taking Pictures
Hey man, I wanted to see if you could give me any tips about how you take your gun images. I wanted to upload a few of my own but I don't want them to look like cheap crap with the background and stuff. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! --Zackmann08 17:31, 21 April 2012 (CDT)
- Any reason you haven't responded to my last 2 post here?? --Zackmann08 13:15, 29 April 2012 (CDT)
Boss Warning
There are at least 5 other models in episode 2; I simply haven't had time yet to finish making it. I've never made a page that I didn't know for certain would qualify, and this is no exception. I've been here a while and you've seen how much care I put into pages that I make, so please message me on my talk page next time you feel the need to warn me about something (so as not to tempt other users to interfere with my work unnecessarily). Also, I'm pretty sure that seeing as the MGC guns are generally regarded as one of the "high quality" models alluded to in #4 and it only says that the one real firearm rule applies if the rest are considered "obvious toy or airsoft gun(s)" (which the MGCs are not) that the page would still qualify even if there were no other guns in the show.--PistolJunkie 10:56, 2 May 2012 (CDT)
- But I just explained why it could qualify according to rule #4. My problem is that by leaving a warning like that (when I've shown on numerous occasions to put a great amount of care into a page and I placed the "under construction" banner at the top) you posted that warning on that talk page which could inadvertently encourage other users to make unnecessary changes (which usually consists of adding in listing for guns with no screencaps to back them up) or possibly even causing another admin to see the warning, assume the page doesn't qualify, and delete it while cleaning house. I'm not "butthurt", I'm just irritated that your first reaction to an incomplete and obviously under-construction page was to post a large warning in the talk page instead of sending it to me. It'd be one thing if I was a new user with no history here, but I've made dozens of pages and hold my work to a fairly high standard. Most if it tends to be fairly obscure stuff, so I know that the odds of another user doing it properly are pretty low.--PistolJunkie 17:37, 2 May 2012 (CDT)
Reviews
Ah right, I see what you mean. I've been starting to write reviews of a lot of films recently and I've put them on various forums and thought that it would be nice to share them here, but I do see what you mean about a lot of the films on this site not having reviews and how it would look. Thanks for getting back to me though :) --cool-breeze 17:20, 7 May 2012 (CDT)
Common Mistakes
What is the rule here? I want to make sure I get it right. Is there a golden number after which they SHOULD be categorized? I just keep coming across pages with 20-30 guns and no categories. (24 - Season 8 for example). I would appreciate your feedback, I want to get this right... --Zackmann08 17:30, 7 May 2012 (CDT)
- Sounds good to me! Thanks. --Zackmann08 10:12, 8 May 2012 (CDT)
Infoboxes
Hey. So first off, a disclaimer, I am posting the following message for each of the Admins so don't think I'm spamming. Just want to get input from all of you. I have been working on a number of infoboxes for different pages (Template:Infobox Movie, Template:Infobox TV, Template:Infobox Video Game). I have already gotten some help from Bunni who installed an additional add-on to facilitate the templates. I would love to get some feedback from you (and other admins) regarding these. Do you like the format? Are there things you would like changed? Should additional information be added? The nice thing is that with the add-on that Bunni installed, you do not have to provide all the information for the infobox. Any variables left blank will simply not be printed.
Finally, I would like to see how you feel about my adding these to pages. I have gotten positive feedback from a number of users (including at least 3 admins) but before I add this to more than a dozen or so pages (which I have done for testing purposes) I want to really get full permission. I know that sweeping changes are a MAJOR no-no without full admin approval. Check out the thread in the forum (http://forum.imfdb.org/showthread.php?t=1942). I look forward to hearing your feedback! :-) --Zackmann08 11:17, 9 May 2012 (CDT)
