Brother (Brat) (1997) is a Russian film. The story revolves around a young Russian man named Danila (Sergei Bodrov), who goes to join his older brother in St. Petersburg. But Danila's older sibling is a gangster and cold blooded killer. Danila is asked to kill someone, and soon learns that he finds killing easier than living. (People who don't speak Russian may find it ironic and humorous that the Russian word for 'brother' is 'brat', so any of us who have brothers will find humor in that translation.)
Hand-made Revolver
Seen in the film is a locally produced .22 LR revolver (which apparently has no official name). These cheap revolvers were produced in the 1990s by one of the gangs which operated out of the Moscow Suburbs. Many people wrongly identify it as a Nagant revolver.
This was Danila's first gun in the movie. He acquired it when he knocked out a mobster who was trying to get merchandises from Hoffman. During the film Danila used this revolver time and again. At first it has frightened two impudent Caucasians in a tram. Then has killed the Chechen gangster and has hit one of Round's henchmen nicknamed Shisha. With this revolver he was waiting in ambush in apartment of the Round's debtor. Also Danila has killed the hitman nicknamed Mole from this revolver.
Makarov PM
A Makarov PM is seen used by a mobster nicknamed Iron (Vladimir Labetskiy) which was one of the Round's henchmen. Iron is seen waiting in the ambush in the Round's debtor's flat with this gun.
Colt 1911
A M1911 pistol is used by Viktor (Viktor Sukhorukov) in the film. When Danila arrives, Viktor is seen putting the gun to Danila's head. Later Viktor tries to sell the handgun to Danila for $600 upon which Danila replies that he doesn't need the pistol. The pistol is also seen held by a nervous gangster (Anatoliy Zhuravlyov).
Walther P38
A Walther P38 is the Round's main henchman's weapon.
Tokarev TT-33 Pistol
A Tokarev TT-33 fitted with a suppressor was used by the Mole (Round's assassin) when he was trying to kill Danila. Mole fails and Danila kills him.
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
When Danila finds out that there is an ambush in his brother's apartment, he buys a double barreled shotgun (presumably TOZ-63) from his drunken neighbor and makes a sawed-off shotgun. With the sawn-off at the ready Danila goes to Victor's apartment where he guns down the Round and his henchmen.
Sa.25 SMG
The Sa.25 SMG with suppressor and 24-rounds magazine lies on the table in Viktor's kitchen, at one of Round's henchmen.
