In this shot it's not seen clear, but I have some guess

It's possibly maybe a wick of the matchlock. Due the speedy burning, the wicks were a very long (more the meter). Such long wicks were inconvenient for carry, so it were coiled around the buttstocks. I can't say exactly on this shot, so, can be this gun seen from other angle? If I see a few more screenshots, I possibly shall help with ID. Winchester Model 1892 ?

Maybe, it's just optical illusion, but (maybe, just for me) is see some rope, coiled on the buttstock (not be confused with the carrying sling).
