Age of Heroes is a 2011 World War II British action film that focuses on the 30 Commando Troop - the forerunners to the SAS that was created by James Bond author Ian Fleming (who was working in British Naval Intelligence during the war). The film stars Sean Bean and Danny Dyer and follows the unit during a top secret mission in occupied Norway.
The following weapons were used in the film Age of Heroes:
Several occupying Waffen SS troops in Norway are armed with Karabiner 98k rifles.
Submachine Guns
M1928A1 Thompson
The M1928A1 Thompson, mostly fitted with a simplified rear sight, is the main weapon of 30 Commando Troop, including Major Jones (Sean Bean) and Rains (Danny Dyer).
MP40
The main weapon of the German troops in Norway is the MP40, most notably a Waffen SS soldier (Dominic Ryan) who uses it to execute Norwegian civilians for aiding the resistance. 30 Commando Troop use captured MP40's in training to familiarize with German weaponry; Sergeant Gray (Tony Hood) uses a captured MP40 in combat. Most of the MP40s seen in the film are airsoft replicas, if not all. This is evidenced by the fact that most of the guns don't eject any shells, and the CGI muzzle flashes have been added in post-production.
Machine Guns
Bren Mk1
Brightling (Stephen Walters) carries a Bren Mk1 in training. It does not make an appearance in combat in Norway.
MG42
Sergeant Mac (William Houston) commanders an MG42 during the attack on the German base, using it to great effect. Since the film is set in 1941, it's appearance is anachronistic.
