: You are absolutely right. A lot of Mannlichers were captured from Austro-Hungarian Army in 1914-16 (and in 1917-18 some were captured back). Most interesting is the fact that many of them were rebarreled to use Russian 7.62x54mmR cartridges. So this one could be 8mm or 7.62mm with equal probability. You are absolutely right. A lot of Mannlichers were captured from Austro-Hungarian Army in 1914-16 (and in 1917-18 some were captured back). Most interesting is the fact that many of them were rebarreled to use Russian 7.62x54mmR cartridges. So this one could be 8mm or 7.62mm with equal probability. Greg-Z 23:05, 29 November 2011 (CST)
