9th Company: Roots of Terror is a video game is based on actual events that took place during the Soviet military campaign in Afghanistan. It is PC based game developed by Noviy Disk. 9th Company follows the story of young recruits undergoing brutal training in Uzbekistan's Fergana Valley and culminates with a bloody stand against the Mujahideen warriors on a mountain top in Afghanistan. It's the Battle of Thermopylae all over again: one Russian fighter against 10 Afghanis! 9th Company: Roots of Terror recreates in detail the events that took place during the last large-scale Soviet military operation.

The Makarov PM pistol is used by military and secret services. Still used today in the Warsaw Treaty countries. In game is used by Mujahideen and soviet soldiers.

The M16A2 is an American assault rifle. Despite the fact that the USA never gave M16A2 rifles to the Mujahideen, it is seen in game used by Mujahideen forces.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 rifle with (but more commonly without) BG-15 Grenade launcher was used by Soviet Afghan National Army and Mujahideen. Considered to use "jungle-style" taped-together magazine stacks, thus the ammo supply is carried in 60-round incremements and is incompatible with AKS-74U.

The AKS-74U was used by Soviet infantry and tankers.

Stationary weapons
DShK 12.7mm
This very dangerous gun is used by Mujahideen forces and is also seen on enemy technicals.
ZU-23
Used by Soviet soldiers and Mujahideen and is used on the KamAZ gun truck. It is incredibly lethal to enemy troops. The ZSU-23-4 quad AA gun still gives this editor shivers.
NSV heavy machine gun
Used by Mujaheddin forces and Soviet troops.
