Frank Farmer's (Kevin Costner) favorite pistol is the Browning Hi-Power. In the screencap, in which both of Farmer's pistols can be seen together, the Hi-Power appears that it might be the Hungarian FEG PJK-9HP. Which is essentially a clone, but I can't determine this. So I'm identifying it as a Browning Hi-Power.

Browning Hi-Power

Frank Farmer (Kevin Costner) carries as his firearm of choice the Browning Hi-Power. When the pistol is seen in closeup in the gun case, the Hi-Power resembles the Hungarian FEG PJK-9HP (essentially a clone). However, until a more definitive identification is made, this will remain a Browning Hi-Power. A Hi-power also appears to be used by the gunman who opens fire on Rachel's cabin.
