Revision as of 09:37, 8 November 2011
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (also known as CoD:MW3 or MW3) is the eighth installment of the Call of Duty series, and the third main entry in the Modern Warfare sub-franchise, continuing the story of Modern Warfare 2. The game has variously been developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software, and will be published by Activision for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The following weapons are featured in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3:
Official images only!
Handguns
FN Five-seveN
As of now, the FN Five-seveN incorrectly holds 15 rounds instead of 20. Could be a replacement for the Beretta 92SB from the previous Modern Warfare games. It is held one handed in a manner similar to the "Glock 18" from Modern Warfare 2 and the ASP from Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Heckler & Koch USP45
The H&K USP45 returns and can be seen on a character's back in the multiplayer world premiere trailer. It is equipped with an under-barrel mounted flashlight.
Walther P99
The P99 pistol can be seen in footage of the Call of Duty XP event. Holds 12 rounds confirming that is the .40 S&W model.
Glock 18C
The Glock 18C can be seen in the E3 Footage. Incorrectly holds 20 rounds in a 31 round magazine.
MP-412 REX
The MP-412 REX has been seen in screenshots of the class menu and is reffered to as the "MP412".
Colt Anaconda
The Colt Anaconda returns as the ".44 Magnum" in the game and is unlocked at level 46 in multiplayer. It appears to have wooden or Hogue grips.
Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle has been seen in gameplay footage.
Springfield Armory Professional 1911
The SA Professional 1911 appears in the hands of Price in gameplay of the Prague level, however is unknown if it can be used by the player, or in the multiplayer.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A2
The H&K MP5A2 is a new weapon shown in the screenshots and could be a replacement for Modern Warfare 2's MP5K. In the screenshot, the MP5A2 rail system seems to be modeled after the real life Knights Armament rail system for the MP5.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
A MP5K makes an appearance in the newest Spec-Ops Survival mode trailer. Note that the variant depicted in-game features a railed handguard and a MP5A2 buttstock.
Heckler & Koch UMP45
A Heckler & Koch UMP45 has been seen in the Reveal trailer.
TDI Vector
The TDI Vector can be seen slung over a soldier's shoulder in a trailer. However, it is unknown if it will be usable in multiplayer or is single player only.
FN P90TR
An FN P90TR (Triple Rail) fitted with a reflex sight can be seen lying on the ground in the Reveal trailer. The P90 is also seen in the hands of Russian submarine crewmen in the gameplay demo.
Magpul FMG-9
The Magpul FMG-9 can be seen in the multiplayer teaser at the end of the recent Spec-ops trailer.
Minebea M-9
The Minebea M-9 is confirmed and can be seen in screenshots of the class menu. possibly a replacement for Modern Warfare 2's Mini-Uzi.
CZ Vz. 61 E Skorpion
The CZ Vz. 61 E Skorpion has been seen in footage of the Call of Duty XP Multiplayer event.
PP-90M1
The PP-90M1 is confirmed and has been seen in footage of the Call of Duty XP Multiplayer event.
Heckler & Koch MP7
The MP7 has been confirmed and can be seen in screenshots of the class menu. Holds 40 rounds, indicating that the extended magazine is standard.
Brügger & Thomet MP9
The Brügger & Thomet MP-9 returns, this time correctly called a MP9.
Shotguns
AA-12
A customized AA-12 shotgun with rail mounts and a somewhat pointless spare shell holder has been seen in gameplay trailers and in the E3 gameplay footage.
Franchi SPAS-12
A pickup icon for the Franchi SPAS-12 has been seen in gameplay trailers.
Winchester 1887
The sawed-off Winchester Model 1887 from MW2 has been confirmed and was seen in Survival gameplay. It has been heavily modified and now features ghost ring sights and synthetic furniture.
USAS-12
The USAS-12 has been seen as an option within Spec-ops mode's weapon purchase menu. Holds a low 6 rounds instead of the standard 10.
Armsel Striker
The Armsel Striker can be seen in gameplay footage from the Call of Duty: XP event.
Kel-Tec KSG
The Kel-Tec KSG is a bullpup shotgun with two magazine-tubes. Appears as the "KSG 12" in-game. It is a replacement of Modern Warfare 2's Ranger.
Assault Rifles & Battle Rifles
Colt M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 model used in the game features flip-up iron sights, a Magpul MOE Carbine Stock, a Magpul 20-round STANAG magazine and a customized charging handle. It can be equipped with a SureShot reflex sight, EOTech XPS Holographic sight, EOTech flip-to-side magnifier and / or a RIS foregrip. Some NPCs seen in the 'Reveal' trailer were instead carrying the M4A1 model used in Modern Warfare 2, though this is likely to simply have been a recycled model used during development. As in many games, the fire selector is shown on semi-auto even though the weapon fires in full-auto.
Recent footage shows the player will be able to manually operate the flip-to-side magnifier at will.
Colt M16A4
The M16A4 appears in the trailer for Spec-ops mode.
Colt CM901
The Colt CM901 was first seen used by the player character in the Spec-Ops' Survival mode trailer, later seen used in gameplay footage of the Call of Duty: XP event. It is seen fitted with a shorter barrel, EOTech XPS Holographic sight, EOTech flip-to-side magnifier, and a Magpul 20LR PMAG. Probably a replacement for Modern Warfare 2's FN FAL.
Custom AK-47
A custom AK-47 can be seen in the hands of Russian solders in the 'Reveal' trailer. Later on it can also be seen being used by a player called "thelegendofkarl" in the first Elite trailer and on the Spec-Ops Survival trailer.
"AK-74u"
The fake AKS-74U from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare seems to have returned to its second sequel. The mix and mash of different Kalashnikovs appears in game still being incorrectly referred to as an "AK-74u", which doesn't exist, and will probably be incorrectly called a submachine gun. It is modeled on the JG "AK Beta-F" airsoft rifle, which is an AKS-47 with a very, very short front end, an AKS-74U gas block/front sight, flash hider, and rear sight, and black polymer furniture with an RIS rail on the handguard. The version in game appears to have bakelite magazines, which led to some to believe it actually was a 74, however the curve of the magazine give away that it is in fact based on a 47.
FAMAS
A possible variant of the FAMAS was spotted in the 'Reveal' trailer.
Remington ACR
The Remington ACR has been spotted in the recent trailer for Call of Duty's 'Elite' service. In the Spec Ops Survival trailer, "ACR 6.8" is listed as a purchasable weapon, implying that the in-game version is chambered in 6.8mm SPC.
Heckler & Koch G36C
A H&K G36C is seen shortly after the armory list is shown in the trailer for Spec-Ops' Survival mode.
Heckler & Koch G36KV
The Heckler & Koch G36KV is used as an LMG in the game and is incorrectly dubbed the "MG36".
FAD Assault Rifle
A FAD Assault Rifle can be seen in an image on the front page of Sledgehammer's website. Probably a replacement of Modern Warfare 2's TAR-21.
FN SCAR-L
The FN SCAR-L is confirmed seen in the Call of Duty XP event.
Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR
A Mk 14 Mod 0 EBR can be seen in concept art.
QBZ-95
A QBZ-95 is a confirmed weapon. Fires in 3-round burst mode, while the real weapon fires in either semi or full auto.
Sniper Rifles
Remington MSR
A Remington MSR can be seen in the multiplayer world premiere trailer. Probably a replacement for the CheyTac M200 Intervention from Modern Warfare 2.
Remington RSASS
A Remington RSASS can be seen in screenshots of the class menu.
Barrett M107
The Barrett M107 can be seen in footage of the the Call of Duty XP Multiplayer event. It is incorrectly modeled with ejection ports on both sides of the receiver.
Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum
An Accuracy International AWM can be seen in the Call of Duty XP Multiplayer event. It is incorrectly called a "L118A" ingame. It is not, as previously suggested, a regular Arctic Warfare, as it has a folding stock and a fluted barrel, both lacked by the conventional AW.
Accuracy International AS50
The Accuracy International AS50 can be seen in screenshots. It is incorrectly modeled with its ejection port on the left side.
SVD Dragunov
A SVD Dragunov can be seen in the class menu list and in the latest multiplayer trailer.
Machine Guns
M60E4
The M60E4 appears as an option on a list of purchasable weapons in the Spec-ops trailer.
RPD
The RPD light machine gun can be seen in hands of Russian occupying forces in the Prague level.
PKP Pecheneg
The PKP Pecheneg can be seen in the hands of the Juggernaut soldier.
FN M249 Para
Despite being called "MK46" in-game, this weapon is actually an FN M249 Para with the RIS handguard of a Mk 46. The machine gun can be seen in the hands of an enemy player in the multiplayer world premiere trailer.
FN M240B
The M240B machine gun has been seen in screenshots.
Emplaced Weapons
Browning M2
A Browning M2 can be seen mounted on a Stryker APC during the first mission.
DShK heavy machine gun
The DShK heavy machine gun was first seen in the 'Reveal' trailer, mounted on a Russian T-90 main battle tank (despite the real-life T-90 being equipped with either the NSV or Kord heavy machine guns) during a huge battle in Germany. In the latest multiplayer trailer, a possible DShK is mounted on an M5-like sentry gun auto turret.
Dillon Aero M134 Minigun
The Dillon Aero M134 Minigun is an emplaced weapon returns from the previous Modern Warfare titles, and was seen first in the "Reveal" trailer, later on E3's gameplay demo. it should be noted that the minigun is incorrectly mounted on the right doorway of a UH-60 Black Hawk instead directly on its right window. This mistake also appears in Modern Warfare 2. The Minigun can be also seen mounted as an M5 sentry gun auto-turret like in Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Mk 19 Grenade Launcher
The Mk 19 Grenade Launcher was spotted in the newest trailer of Spec-Ops' Survival mode, mounted on a stand which can be moved by the player character.
M61 Vulcan
M61 Vulcan cannons can be seen Phalanx installations in screenshots of the naval battle in New York harbour.
Launchers
AT4
A pickup icon for the M136 AT4 has been seen in gameplay trailers.
RPG-7
An RPG-7V rocket can be seen in air, in the Paris level, indicating the presence of the RPG-7 in the game.
Heckler & Koch XM-25
Gameplay footage showing the player holding a Heckler & Koch XM25 has been seen in trailers.
Mk 153 Mod 0 SMAW
The Mk 153 Mod 0 SMAW can be seen in gameplay footage from the Call of Duty: XP event.
FGM-148 Javelin
The FGM-148 Javelin can be seen in screenshots of the class menu.
Heckler & Koch M320
A standalone Heckler & Koch M320 grenade launcher can be seen in the multiplayer premiere. It is a possible replacement for Modern Warfare 2's M79 grenade launcher. It is unclear at this stage if it can also be mounted as an attachment.
Attachments
M203 grenade launcher
The M203 is shown on an M4 in a trailer.
Knight's Armament Masterkey
The Knight's Armament Masterkey can be seen in the latest multiplayer trailer.
Explosives
M18 smoke grenade
The M18 smoke grenade was used several times by the player character in the newest Spec-Ops Survival mode trailer, used to mark targets for an AC-130 gunship.
M67 Hand Grenade
M18A1 Claymore
The M18A1 Claymore was seen in the newest trailer of Spec-Ops' Survival mode.
