Red Dawn is an upcoming remake of the 1984 Charlie Sheen/Patrick Swayze film of the same name. The remake stars Chris Hemsworth (as Jed Eckert) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (as Lt Col. Andrew Tanner) and involves an invasion of the continental United States by a powerful, Communist-backed enemy force. Originally, the invaders were depicted as Chinese, but has since been changed to North Koreans; this is mainly due to concern that a negative depiction of the PLA may result in the Chinese government banning any future MGM films, such as the upcoming 23rd James Bond film (Similar concerns and changes also happened during the development of the videogame Homefront, which itself is also a story about a powerful Communist force invading the United States) . For a time the film was shelved due to MGM's financial troubles in 2010, but in more recent news, it has been confirmed that the remake will be released sometime in 2012 once the re-writes and re-shoots are done. | Red Dawn is an upcoming remake of the 1984 Charlie Sheen/Patrick Swayze film of the same name. Originally, the invaders were depicted as Chinese, but has since been changed to North Koreans; this is mainly due to concern that a negative depiction of the PLA may result in the Chinese government banning any future MGM films, such as the upcoming 23rd James Bond film (Similar concerns and changes also happened during the development of the videogame Homefront, which itself is also a story about a powerful Communist force invading the United States). For a time the film was shelved due to MGM's financial troubles in 2010, but in more recent news, it has been confirmed that the remake will be released sometime in 2012 once the re-writes and re-shoots are done.

Russian soldiers are also equipped with similar AKMs, but with additional full-length railed handguards.
AKMSU
The AKMSU carbine is used by KPA soldiers and the Wolverines, modified with what appears to be a KCI quad rail system.
Norinco Type 67
What appears to be a Norinco Type 67 machine gun is mounted on a KPA armored personnel carrier.
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2HB heavy machine gun is seen mounted on KPA Humvees and tanks.
