16 Blocks is a 2006 action thriller starring Bruce Willis as a burnt out NYPD Detective who is assigned to transport a reluctant witness 16 blocks to the courthouse. He soon discovers that there are forces that want to see the witness eliminated and may be tied to the police department. The film was directed by Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon).
The following weapons were used in the film 16 Blocks:
Pistols
Glock 17
One of the most prominent weapons in the film is the Glock 17 pistol, shown as the standard sidearm of New York City Police officers, including Det. Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) and Det. Frank Nugent (David Morse). Some can also be seen equipped with weaponlights being used by NYPD ESU officers during the apartment raid at the beginning of the film and during the bus standoff later on. The pistols switch between 2nd and 3rd-generation models several times during the film.
Glock 19
During a scene in a bar, Mosley's Glock 17 briefly turns into a Glock 19.
Beretta 92FS
While transporting Eddie Bunker (Mos Def) to the trial, Mosley and Eddie are attacked by assassins wielding suppressed Beretta 92FS pistols.
Smith & Wesson Model 60
After losing his Glock at the bar, Mosley returns to his sister's apartment and retrieves a stainless Smith & Wesson Model 60 revolver from the closet. He then uses it as a backup weapon throughout the film after taking another Glock from one of the corrupt cops pursuing him. Eddie uses it briefly when he sneaks up on Nugent from behind, holding him at gunpoint with it while Mosley handcuffs him. These were authorized as back-up and off-duty guns for NYPD officers. The model used in the film is fitted with black synthetic grips as opposed to the standard wooden ones.
Walther PPK/S
When persuing Mosley and Eddie through Chinatown, Nugent pulls a Walther PPK/S from a hidden ankle holster, firing both it and his Glock 17 akimbo when he bursts into the room where the two are holed up.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5
The Heckler & Koch MP5 appears in the film being used by N.Y.P.D. ESU, both the MP5A3 (with SEF and Navy trigger groups) and the MP5A5, most notably during the raid on the apartment at the beginning of the film, and during the hostage situation on the bus. As with most SWAT-issue MP5's, they are all fitted with Surefire dedicated forend weaponlights.
Shotguns
Ithaca 37
The Ithaca 37 shotgun appears in the film as one of the main weapons used by ESU officers during the hostage situation aboard the bus.
Remington Spartan
During the encounter with Detective Frank Nugent at the bar, Mosley takes a Remington Spartan 12 gauge double-barreled shotgun with a sawed-off stock & barrels from behind the counter and uses it to shoot one of the corrupt officers, then hold off the others while he and Eddie make their escape, dumping it in a trash can outside. When asked why he discarded the weapon, Mosley replied that the shells in it were over 20 years old and that it was luck that it fired at all. An unusual statement since ammunition lasts far longer than 20 years when properly stored. Originally, the Remington Spartan line of entry level shotguns was produced by Baikal, a Russian manufacturer.
Rifles
Remington 700PSS
During the hostage situation aboard the bus N.Y.P.D. snipers can be seen with Remington 700PSS rifles, with and without Harris bipods. One is later used by a ESU sniper at the courthouse to kill one of the corrupt cops as he's attempting to kill Detective Jack Mosley.
Other
M12 Flash Bang Grenade
During the bus standoff, ESU tries to storm the bus, smashing windows and throwing in two M12 stun grenades.
