The [[M4A1 Carbine]] is commonly seen in gameplay footage which is also in the hands of the main character. Because of the alpha stages, the in-game [[M4A1]] can be seen fitted with iron sights, EOtech 551 Holographic sight, Trijicon 4x32 ACOG scope, Surefire Universal Weaponlight, AN/PEQ-2 laser designator, Magpul Ranger Plate and an unknown stock (possibly a painted LE stock or Magpul CTR stock). Two different "reload-from-empty" animations currently exist. The "Fault Line" trailers had the player rack the charging handle, while the Operation Metro trailer, and the PS3 Fault Line gameplay from the June 16th, 2011 edition of Jimmy Fallon's Late Night show had the player use the bolt release button. Another thing to note, the M4 depicted in the Operation Metro trailer has full iron sights and has not been seen with an optic. Not to be mistaken with the M16A3 in the trailers, which is lacking a front sight post/gas block with the ACOG. | The [[M4A1 Carbine]] is commonly seen in gameplay footage which is also in the hands of the main character. The following weapons appear in the video game Battlefield 3:
Handguns
Beretta M9
In the beginning of the new "Fault Line Episode 1" video, a Marine who is sitting in front of the player has a Beretta M9 pistol holstered to his vest. It can also be seen in the multiplayer footage of E3 that the player is reloading his M9. Another note of interest is that unlike Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor, the M9's magazine has 15 rounds + 1 in the chamber).
MP-443 Grach
The MP-443 apparently returns from Bad Company 2, as it's briefly visible in the multiplayer kill list in the "Operation Métro" trailer.
Glock 17
The Glock 17 is shown in an official screenshot for the Battlelog. Glock 17 picture
Sub-machine Guns
FN P90TR
An FN P90TR (Triple Rail) can be seen in E3 coverage from IGN.
Assault Rifles
Colt M16A4
The M16A4 rifle is shown during gameplay footage. In the early footage it has no rear iron sight. This is because the game was still in early alpha development.
Colt M4A1
The M4A1 Carbine is commonly seen in gameplay footage which is also in the hands of the main character. Because of the alpha stages, the in-game M4A1 can be seen fitted with iron sights, EOtech 551 Holographic sight, Trijicon 4x32 ACOG scope, Surefire Universal Weaponlight, AN/PEQ-2 laser designator, Magpul Ranger Plate and an unknown stock (possibly a painted LE stock or Magpul CTR stock).
AK variant
The PLR insurgents using an unknown variant of the AK rifle series.
AK-74M
The AK-74M has been seen in gameplay trailers.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74U has been seen in gameplay trailers.
FN Mk 17
The FN MK 17, or SCAR-H can be seen in the new Caspian Border gameplay trailer.
Machine Guns
M240B Machine Gun
The M240B appears in the hands of some U.S. Marines, and in the hands of the player, fitted with an EOtech 551 Holographic sight. The trailer shows the weapon as having a deployable bipod which can be used to increase accuracy during prolonged firing, at the cost of player mobility.
PKP Pecheneg
The PKP Pecheneg has been seen in gameplay trailers.
Mk. 46 Mod 0/M249 SAW
The Mk. 46 Mod 0/M249 SAW was seen in E3 multiplayer footage. Because of the sticking out rail on the top of the handguard, this likely to be the Mk. 46 Mod 0.
QJY-88
The Norinco QJY-88 returns from Bad Company 2, once again called the "Type 88 LMG". It appears in the material marketing the pre-order rewards.
Sniper Rifles
Mk 11 Mod 0/SR-25
The Mk 11 Mod 0 appears in the "Operation Métro" multiplayer trailer.
SKS
The SKS is seen mentioned in pre-order information.
SVD
The SVD Dragunov is briefly visible in the multiplayer kill list in the "Operation Métro" trailer.
Shotguns
Armsel Striker
The Armsel Striker is included, identifiable by the winding key on the front of the drum magazine. The weapon is referred to as the "DAO-12" in material advertising the game's pre-order rewards, as it was in Battlefield 2; this stands for "double action only, 12 gauge" and is a description of the weapon rather than a correct name for it.
Launchers
M136 AT4
The M136 AT4 appears in the hands of US Marines. In the trailer, it seems to have a pistol grip instead of having the trigger on the back of the weapon behind the sights.
Mk 153 Mod 0 SMAW
The Mk 153 Mod 0 SMAW appears in "EA PWNED" Battlefield 3 video, demonstration the game's destruction engine.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 makes a return in Battlefield 3, as it was seen in Operation Metro multiplayer trailer.
Explosives
M67 hand grenade
During the first encounter, the player is throwing M67 hand grenades at PLR insurgents.
Emplaced Weapons
Kord Heavy Machine Gun
Kord heavy machine guns are mounted on a number of technicals.
Browning M2HB Heavy Machine Gun
The Browning M2HB heavy machine gun appears in the game mounted on vehicles, including M1A2 Abrams tanks. The Abrams appear to be fitted with a remote mounting for the M2HB allowing the Commander to fire the weapon from inside the safety of the turret, a feature recently implemented on real-life M1A2's operating in Iraq.
M240C
The M240C machine gun are most likely being co-axially mounted on the M1A2 Abrams MBT
PKT
The PKT machine gun are most likely being co-axially mounted on the T-90 MBT
GE M134 Minigun
M134 Miniguns are seen mounted on AH-6 Little Birds strafing ground targets.
M242 Bushmaster chaingun
The M242 Bushmaster chaingun are most likely being the main gun of the LAV-25
Mk 19 Grenade Launcher
Mk 19 grenade launchers are seen mounted on M1114 Humvees.
M61 Vulcan
The M61 Vulcan appears in the game as the secondary armament of F/A-18E Super Hornet fighters.
