Revision as of 18:01, 12 July 2011
The following firearms are seen in pre-release material for the upcoming video game "Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City", slated for release this winter. A weapon selection screen shown at the beginning of the E3 demo shows 5 classes of guns with 4 choices in each. There was no option to choose your pistol but every character comes equipped with one.
Handguns
Glock 17
Leon's VP70 from Resident Evil 2 seems to have been replaced with a third-generation Glock 17. While purists may cry out at the change, the Glock 17 isn't the worst decision the design team could have gone with, as it's in the same vein as the VP70, a polymer-framed pistol with a high-capacity magazine.
SIG-Sauer P226
Vektor is seen armed with a SIG-Sauer P226, while using a zombie as an (in)human shield.
Submachine guns
MAC-11
Known as the "Mini SMG" ingame. Bertha is seen using a similar MAC-11 to the one used in Resident Evil 2, complete with barrel extension.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Known as the "Submachine Gun" ingame. An unnamed USS member is seen armed with an MP5A3, consistent with Resident Evil 2's choice of arming the USS. His example is fitted with a Surefire forend.
Heckler & Koch MP7A1
Known as the "Suppressed SMG" ingame. A suppressed H&K MP7A1 fitted with a 20-round magazine and reflex scope can be seen on one of the officially released screens. It is anachronistic, as the MP7 was not produced until 2001, the game takes place in 1998.
Rifles
Heckler & Koch G36K
Vektor, Spectre, and Beltway are all seen wielding G36Ks, sometimes suppressed. The forend features possibly-anachronistic rails, as the game takes place in September 1998.
Colt M4A1
Known as the "Assault Rifle" ingame. U.S. Spec Ops teams are seen armed with M4A1s, fitted with Aimpoint Red Dot Sights.
Colt M16A2
Known as the "Burst Rifle" ingame. Players can choose an M16A2 fitted with an ACOG scope.
AK74
Known as the "Milita Rifle" ingame.
Shotguns
Mossberg 590
Beltway is seen with a fullstock Mossberg 590 with a heatshield in a promotional render.
SPAS 12
Known as the "Assault Shotgun" ingame. Players can choose a SPAS 12 with folding stock.
Machine Guns
M249 Para
A U.S. Spec Ops troop appears to be carrying an M249 Para in the trailer.
Sniper Rifles
Sako Model 75
Same model as the rifle that appeared in Resident Evil 5, it is known as the "Bolt-action Rifle" ingame.
Heckler & Koch G3
The Heckler & Koch G3 can be seen in the E3 trailer. In the weapons selection screen it is under the Sniper Rifles class and called the "Semi-auto Rifle". it is fitted with an ACOG scope.
