Road to Perdition: Difference between revisions
The [[M1911A1]] is the most commonly seen gun in the movie, used primarily by mob soldier Michael Sullivan ([[Tom Hanks]]). Connor Rooney ([[Daniel Craig]]) also uses an M1911A1. A major error occurs during the hotel fight with Maguire (Jude Law), just before Sullivan fires the 1911's slide is clearly locked back, indicating that the weapon is out of ammunition. (actually, this appears to be a sound-editing error. Slow motion shows Sullivan falling backwards and pulling the trigger, firing the last round and locking back the slide, however the sound of the shot doesn't come until a few moments later, making it appear that he fired the round with the slide locked back. What is interesting is that Sullivan only fires four shots before his slide locks back which means he didn't top off his magazine before the encounter.)
In some shots where an actor is required to fire the 1911 close to another actor, a 1911 "Non Gun" is substituted. Non Guns are electronically-operated and discharge small explosive squibs that make a flash and produce smoke, but they do not eject shell casings or have any moving parts besides the trigger. Sullivan can be seen using a non-gun when he kills Connor Rooney. This is obvious, as the gun fires three times, but no casings are seen leaving the weapon (they are heard hitting the ground), the slide never cycles, and the gun is seen firing with the hammer down, even though it is a single action pistol.
Savage 1907
Hitman Harlen Maguire (Jude Law) uses a .32 ACP Savage 1907 after the hotel shootout. Michael Sullivan, Jr. (Tyler Hoechlin) picks up this gun at the end of the movie but does not fire it.
When Sullivan is mowing down John Rooney (Paul Newman) and his thugs outside O'Neill's bar, most of Rooney's men carry 1911s but one fires back at Sullivan with a Smith & Wesson Model 10.
Colt Detective Special
Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks) gives a .38 Colt Detective Special to his son when he goes in to kill Kelly, telling Michael Jr. that he's "got six shots" if he needs them.
unidentified revolver
Calvino's bodyguard (Kevin Chamberlin) draws a small frame revolver inside Calvino's office but is killed by Sullivan before he has a chance to fire it.
Submachine Gun
M1921 Thompson
Michael Sullivan uses the .45 ACP Thompson M1921 submachine gun throughout the movie.
Harlan Maguire (Jude Law) carries a Winchester Model 1897 shotgun under his jacket when he goes to kill Michael in the hotel. He ends up killing Rance, the mob accountant, but missing Michael.
