The following weapons were used in the 2002 Gamecube remake of Resident Evil:
Hand Guns
Beretta 92FS Samurai Edge Custom
This is the gun each character has in the Resident Evil game, S.T.A.R.S (Special Tactics And Rescue Service) utilizes this weapon as its primary side arm. It is a customized Beretta 92FS with "S.T.A.R.S. - R.P.D. SPECIAL TEAM" engraved on the slide, and custom wood and synthetic grips with the S.T.A.R.S. emblem on it. It also sports a heavier Brigadier slide, target sights, an extended slide catch, and a stainless steel barrel. Wesker carries a further modified two-tone version with an extended rail mount and a extended beavertail (see Resident Evil 5).
Beretta 96F Samurai Edge Custom
Barry Burton has a heavily customized version of the "Samurai Edge." It fired .40 S&W caliber bullets in a 3 round burst fire mode and featured a longer barrel and compensator for increased accuracy and stability. Though never actually used by Barry, it is available to Chris and Jill as an unlockable weapon. It has unlimited ammunition. It's noteworthy that this Samurai Edge is not based on a Beretta 92F like the other versions of the weapon, but rather a 96F model (hence the .40 caliber chambering) converted to selective fire (hence the 3-round burst).
It also bears similarity to the "Auto 9" of Robocop fame.
Colt Python
A custom Colt Python can be found in a tombstone in the Cemetery after completing the puzzle with the three emblems there. Ammo for this weapon is rare, but it can kill most enemies with one shot and is very effective against bosses.
Colt Anaconda
Barry Burton carries a custom Colt Anaconda as his side arm, it's referred to in game as the Silver Serpent ether for licensing purposes or it's the name Barry gave it, oddly, it has the exact same customizations as the custom Colt Python you find normally in the game. This gun can only be acquired on Jill's scenario if the player chooses not to trust him and keep the weapon instead of returning it. Extra ammunition for the gun does not exist in game and thus it cannot be reloaded. Once all six shots have been fired the gun is rendered useless. It should be noted that this weapon is really powerful, especially against living things.
Remington 1866 Derringer
A Remington 1866 Derringer can be found in the Guard House behind the mansion. It only has one round (the other having been used by the previous owner to commit suicide) and is powerful enough to kill any non-boss enemy in one shot.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
A Winchester Model 1897 shotgun is found on the first floor on the east side of the mansion. It replace the Remington 870 from the original Resident Evil version.
The weapon is booby trapped, but is easily acquired by exchanging the shotgun for a broken one, thereby keeping the trap (a crushing ceiling) from being triggered. This weapon can also be acquired without the broken shotgun on Jill's scenario, as Barry will rescue Jill from the ceiling crusher by shooting out the lock on the room and dragging Jill out before she can "fit into a sandwich." Both Chris and Jill hold the weapon at the hip, however Chris also aims it at his shoulder only during Yawn, Plant-42 and Tyrant battles.
Assault Shotgun (Benelli M3 Super 90)
This shotgun belongs to Richard Aiken from S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team. It's a mix between an Benelli M3 and Benelli M4, resembles both guns with the collapsible stock and pump action mechanism.
Many fans mistakenly claim this one M4, however the real M4 is semi-auto only while M3 has both action types. The in-game version is actually a modified M3, because many of Benelli M1, M3 and M4 stocks are interchangeable, although no such weapon is confirmed nor seen in the real world.
This weapon can only be aquired if the player manages to get Richard the serum after he's been poisoned by the giant snake Yawn. Both Chris and Jill hold the weapon at the hip (same as the Model 1897 Shotgun), however Chris also aims it at his shoulder only during Yawn, Plant-42 and Tyrant battles.
Like this...
...but with this pump mechanism.
Mossberg 590
In the game intro, Joseph Frost is carrying what looks like a Mossberg 590. This gun is never used in the gameplay.
- Not necessarily a Mossberg at all. Ghost ring sights on his shotgun are not Mossberg, and are more common to Benelli shotguns. The only distinguishing feature is the heat shield which can be mounted onto ANY shotgun.
While not considered canon, for a closer look at Joseph's shotgun, refer to the Resident Evil Japan Arcade remake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZEqOJ_nP3A
It actually appears to be the same "Assault shotgun" (Benelli M3/M4 hybrid) that Richard uses, but modified with a heat shield.***
Special
Hybrid grenade launcher
A powerful grenade launcher that can use a variety of shells, but has poor range. The weapon is a combination of parts from real grenade launchers, in particular the Arwen 37 and Milkor MGL.
Rocket Launcher (M202 FLASH stand-in)
Probably the most powerful gun in the game, however the Rocket Launcher is only given to you in the final boss battle by Brad to help you in beating the Tyrant. While it resembles the M202 FLASH, it clearly is not, as it lacks both the front and back covers, and has a forward grip as part of the shell of the unit.
Flame Thrower
This weapon is only available to Chris Redfield. It's found in the caves area and works well against spiders.
In Jill's story, she finds a broken Flame Thrower which is needed to complete a puzzle.
