The "M41A Pulse Rifle" is a fictional firearm invented for the world of Aliens. It uses a 99 round magazine loaded with 10x24mm, explosive tip, caseless, light armor-piercing rounds, although supposedly downloaded to 95 to prevent stoppages. It is fitted with an underslung pump-action 4 shot 30mm grenade launcher. The prop was composed of an aluminium shroud, and M1 Thompson for the main gun, a Remington 870 as the grenade launcher, and uses a Franchi SPAS-12 cut down pump grip and heatshield over the 870.
The M41A Pulse Rifle has been used in the following:
Film
- All of the Colonial Marines and Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in Aliens
- Weyland/Yutani operatives use it briefly to shoot a prison guard after he attacks their Bishop Unit in Alien³
Television
- In the Simpsons episode The Lastest Gun In The West, criminal Snake Jailbird and his gang rob a bank using the M41A.
- In the Ben 10 Alien Force episode "Kevin's Big Score", a M41A Pulse rifle is found in the Rust bucket's gun rack when Kevin shows Argit the hidden Alien Tech.
- In South Park the pulse rifle frequently shows up as a firearm carried by any armed characters.
Video Games
- It is used by police in the 1999 game "G-Police: Weapons of Justice" in the opening FMV.
