Paths of Glory is a 1957 World War I film directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Kirk Douglas as a French officer who defends three soldiers who are to be executed for cowardice as a result of a disastrous attempt to take a well-defended German position and a French general's desire to shift the blame.
