The Following firearms were used in the video game Mafia II:
Colt M1911A1
Seems to be the standard pistol throughout the game. This weapon is seen being used by Vito, Joe and Henry throughout the game. The M1911A1 is Vito's favorite gun.
In Chapter 10 Joe and Vito use a special custom version with a 23 round magazine. Joe tells Vito not to lose it because there are only two in the world, yet it can be bought at Giuseppe's. This version also appears to be nickel-plated.
M1A1 Thompson
The Main Submachine Gun of police. The Thompson M1A1 commonly seen with a 30 round box magazine.
M1928 Thompson
The Main Submachine Gun of gangsters. The Thompson M1928 commonly seen with a 50 round drum. The gameplay video shows it being almost uncontrollable, this is probably because the game has no lock on system. Whenever your in the Drivers seat and your chasing someone, Joe will use this weapon until it runs out. When Henry is shot in the leg, Joe uses a Thompson to kill the man with Vito. Recently in a new trailer, the original thompson was seen. The 1928 Thompson in this game is a "franken-gun" of sort, having some features of both the 1928/A1 and the M1/A1 models. The gun in Mafia II has the M1 style stock, the M1 style bolt, the receiver of the M1, and although this is not the case with either model, it fires from a closed bolt
Beretta Model 38A
Used by Italian soldiers in the training mission, and can be later bought at Harry's gun shop late in the game. Called ".38 SMG" in game
M3 Grease Gun
Sometimes used by enemy gangsters but mostly by, fittingly, the Greaser gang. Can also be bought at Harry's gun shop.
M1 Garand
Used by Vito in the training mission. Although it is an army rifle, it can be bought at civilian gun shops.
Karabiner 98k
Used in the training mission, but can also be bought at Harry's gun shop.
MP40
Used by enemy gangsters, and is more common then the Grease Gun. It has a surprisingly slow rate of fire and can be bought at Harry's.
MG42
Used by Vito in mission 4 "The Buzzsaw", where he uses it to ambush a convoy of gangsters. Can also be used in the training mission.
Remington 870 Field Gun
A Remington 870 is seen on the table in the gun shop screen. Used by Vito, gangsters, cops, and random shop owners. An anachronism, the 870 wasn't produced until 1950 which makes it incorrect to have for the first five missions. The raised rib was also a feature that wouldn't be added until later. Also, the shotgun ingame carries 8 rounds whereas it is modeled to look like it holds 5.
Colt Detective Special
3rd gen model. Appears as the .38 Revolver. Main sidearm of the Empire City Police Department.
Mauser C96
Seen being used by an Italian soldier in the training mission. Can be bought at Harry's gun shop.
Smith & Wesson Model 27
Called the Magnum and takes .357 rounds.
