Gin Tama (2006 - ????)


Gintama (銀魂) is an anime (and a manga) about a Samurai, Gintoki Sakata who runs an all service enterprise (they do everything asked if it pays) with two young fellas (Shinpachi and Kagura). Its genre is rather comic/gag rather than "battle". The story takes place in a fictional Edo (former name of Tokyo) 20 years after the Amanto (extraterrestrial) invaded Japan during the Sakoku (isolation of Japan from foreign nations during the Edo period). The shogunate maintain its rule but being a puppet of the Amanto, and samurais began to lose their powers and swords. The city and the technological advances look half-today's Tokyo, half-ancient Edo with also some futuristic stuffs.
