Note: Pictures and Descriptions Coming Soon! City of God (Portuguese Title: Cidade de Deus) is a 2002 Brazilian film directed by Fernando Mirelles and Katia Lund. Based on a true story, the film chronicles the development of one of Rio De Janeiro's most notorious favelas as told through the perspective of Rocket(Alexandre Rodrigues), an aspiring photographer.
The following weapons are seen in the 2002 film City of God:
Revolvers
M1917 Revolver
Rossi M-851 Revolver
Rocket (Alexandre Rodrigues) carries a Rossi M-851 revolver during a sequence where he considers becoming a criminal.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Carrot (Matheus Nachtergaele) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 36 fitted with a '3 inch barrel when he and his gang rob a gun store.
Unknown revolvers
Pistols
Taurus PT92
The Taurus PT92 is seen in the hands of gang members. It should be noted that while the film is set between the 1960s and the late 1970s, the PT92 was only introduced in 1983.
- The last picture is a Beretta 92FS, note the slide mounted safety.--Pølaris 00:22, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Imbel M1911A1 pistol
Li'l Ze (Leandro Firmino da Hora) uses a M1911-style pistol made in Brazil by IMBEL throughout much of the film (the Imbel logo is visible on the slide)
Shotguns
Unknown Pump Action Shotgun
A pump action shotgun of unknown make is used by various gangsters and the police at different points of the movie.
Submachine Guns
M3 'Grease Gun'
The M3 / M3A1 "Grease Gun" is used by Li'l Ze throughout the latter parts of the film. Due to a continuity error, the M3 occasionally switches places with the Madsen M50 during the final gunbattle.
Madsen M50
Madsen M50 submachine guns are carried by police officers and gang members in both Lil' Ze and Carrot's gangs.
IMI Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi submachine gun is frequently seen in the hands of gang members. Interestingly, one of the Micro Uzis depicted is fitted with the full sized stock of the original Uzi.
Rifles
Mauser M1908
Some gangsters are armed with Mauser M1908 rifles.
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine is carried by one of Carrot's gang members when they rob a bank to fund their arms purchases, as well as by Military Police (Brazilian Gendarmerie) officers.
Browning Automatic Rifle
When Charlie the arms dealer tries to sell weapons to Li'l Ze's gang, one of the weapons he shows off is a Browning Automatic Rifle.
FN Model 1949
Knockout Ned (Seu Jorge) carries an FN Model 1949 rifle during the final gunbattle against Li'l Ze's gang, killing several gangsters with the weapon during the final gunbattle. The FN Model 1949 (also known as the SAFN-49) was a semi-automatic design that was adopted by several countries, including Brazil, before being superseded by such battle rifles as the FN FAL.
Ruger Mini-14
A Ruger Mini-14 rifle is seen in several scenes of the film, most notably when Rocket takes photos of Li'l Ze's gang posing with their weapons. This is actually an M1 Carbine that has been chrome plated. Look at the second picture and you will see that it clearly has an M1 Carbine 30 round magazine.
