The Hard Way is a 1991 action comedy starring Michael J. Fox as a spoiled Hollywood actor named Nick Lang who wants to break into serious roles by learning how to be a real cop. He is mismatched with veteran NYPD detective John Moss (James Woods), as they pursue a serial killer known as "The Party Crasher" (Stephen Lang). The film was directed by John Badham (Blue Thunder). The film is notable for being one of the first films to feature the use of the Glock 19.
The following guns are used in the movie The Hard Way (1991):
Glock 19
Lt. John Moss (James Woods) uses a 9mm Glock 19 as his sidearm. This was only the second film to feature a Glock pistol, the first being 1990's Die Hard 2. The Glock 19 was not even a year old when this movie was released (1991). At one point in the film, the Party Crasher gets ahold of it and shoots Nick Lang (Michael J. Fox).
Smith & Wesson Model 10
When Nick Lang explores Moss's apartment, he finds a snubnosed .38 Smith & Wesson Model 10. At one point where Moss tries to grant Lang's wish of knowing what it's like to kill someone, he loads it with blanks and Lang "shoots" a street worker. The S&W is also carried by Detectives Billy (L.L. Cool J), Ben Pooley (Luis Guzmán), Grainy (John Capodice) and China (Mary Mara).
Walther PP
In the subway shootout scene, a teenage mugger (Johnny Sanchez) attempts to shoot Moss with a .32 Walther PP, but it misfires.
Wildey
The Party Crasher (Stephen Lang) uses a custom-made Wildey Magnum semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 Winchester Magnum as his primary murder weapon. He uses hollowpoint Glaser safety bullets and laser sights to maintain his aim.
