I hope nobody minds, but I plan on doing some heavy editing to this article. I'll keep the images, but I'll be adding text, page links, and stock images of the weapons so the article complies with IMFDB standards. | I hope nobody minds, but I plan on doing some heavy editing to this article. Thanks to whoever corrected me and provided the image for the Type 99! :) -- K [[Special:Contributions/98.118.59.151|98.118.59.151]] 22:59, 2 September 2010 (UTC) |

i have just finished watching this anime (with english subtitles) and think it is an AWESOME anime!!!
Does Anyone have a favourite witch in the series?
Type 99
Is not that gun. I may not know much about firearms, but the 99 has a curved magazine on the top, and this has a drum on the bottom. Its much different. 70.108.146.60 20:00, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
The weapon you refer to, the Type 99 machine gun, is essentially a Type 96 light machine gun modified to accept the more powerful 7.7x58mm Type 99 ammunition. The weapon depicted in Strike Witches looks like a Japanese Navy Type 99 "machine cannon," which is indeed fed from a drum as depicted and fires a far larger round (note that in the image of the assorted characters, Yoshika Miyafuji and Mio Sakumoto are noted as carrying "13mm Type 99"). However, I think the weapon being used in this anime is a fabrication; my research indicates the Type 99 cannon fired 20mm rounds, not 13mm. Hexslinger 11:26, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Is it just me or...
Is this anime just an excuse to look at huge guns and little girls panties? No offense. Besides it's not like it's uncommon in Anime. besides, who am I to judge really? Just throwin' it out there. Discuss, don't discuss, I dont really care.
- You are 100% right. Another thing the series does is to shame about every WW2 flying Ace in history. It sucks, really.--Oliveira 15:51, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Lolicon + WWII = Bad idea, except for basement-dwellers and sick fucks Markost 16:58, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Never had taste for anime, and shit like this is why. --ConditionNone 04:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Damn pedo's ruin everything. They ought to kneecap the bastards when they are released from prison-S&Wshooter 05:31, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Paedos don't go to prison, sexual predators do. Learn the difference. Paedos haven't acted yet, quite a few are voluntarily castrated, I've heard. Just so you know. Other than that, I heard someone suggest to go to a gunstore with a strike witches jacket, and try to convince people that they're a veteran from the unit. With no pants on. 'Twas hilarious.-protoAuthor 15:25, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- That's a pretty good way to get an ass whuppin' by the police-S&Wshooter 18:06, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'd pay to see that. XD. But, at any rate, I have to agree with the OP. I love anime, but things like Black Lagoon, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, and Ghost in the Shell are more my style. This definitely doesn't fit in that category. Spartan198 21:08, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- If you liked Black Lagoon and Ghost in the Shell, I would recommended Darker then black and cowboy bebop. Rex095
- Shows like these are called "fanservice shows," pretty much made to titillate the fans first and foremost, and sell DVDs. This sort of show isn't that uncommon in anime, and exists for the same reason why car ads and facial hair razor ads in North America frequently feature "model-quality" women. Stuff like this sells everywhere!
- Sadly it seems that Gonzo, its former animation studio, couldn't achieve the latter objective of shows like this, since it just got shot in the head once their backers announced they were having another animation studio produce it. Gonzo was already shot in both feet already, having already fired 75% of their staff earlier to try and keep their head above water. Sure wish they didn't have to resort to making stuff like this to stay alive . . . --Mazryonh 23:44, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
MG... 42?
The saddle drums on the MG42 resemble MG15 mags, although the weapon otherwise appears to be an MG42. I don't think the 42 could feed from a mag like that, as it only took belts from the left side. Should a note of that be made in the article?
