F/X 2 is the 1991 sequel to F/X. Bryan Brown returns as Rollie Tyler, a now retired special effects expert who's called upon by the NYPD to perform one last effect to catch a suspect. When the effect goes awry, Rollie is once again on the run and has to get help from his friend and former cop Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy).

A Beretta PM12S is briefly seen carried by the guard at the pier.

During the shooting of a movie, actors playing police officers use Smith & Wesson Model 28 revolvers to shoot at an alien robot.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
The Smith & Wesson Model 36 is carried by both NYPD Lt. Ray Silak (Philip Bosco) and Det. Mike Brandon (Tom Mason).
Unknown compact pistol
Assistant DA Liz Kennedy (Joanna Gleason) is seen pulling this compact pistol during the final confrontation.
