The Octopus (La Piovra) was an Italian Television Series about the battle between the Italian Police (Polizia) and the Mafia. It ran between March 11, 1984 – January 11, 2001. Like many NON-American television series, there were several 'seasons' within the same calendar year and the seasons were very abridged (the first year, for example, yielded only 6 1/2 hours of show with no commercials). It is considered a recurring "mini-series" that had ten (10) official cycles or seasons between 1984 and 2001.

Colt Python Snubnose is carried by Commissario Corrado Cattani (Michele Placido) through the first four series.
Beretta M951
Beretta M951 was used in the first episode to murder Vice-Commissario Leo De Maria (Massimo Bonetti). It was later used in an attempt to kill Commissario Corrado Cattani.
Beretta M12
Beretta M12 was used in the series by Italian Police (Polizia) officers.
Unidentified Revolver
An unidentified revolver is used to kill Contessa Olga Camastra (Florinda Bolkan) and Commissario Marrineo (Massimo Bonetti).
