The firearms used in the 1984 film Nineteen Eighty Four were of World War II vintage in keeping with George Orwell's original novel by the film makers. In Orwell's novel, the weapons technology used by the militaries of Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia were the same weapons the Allied and the Axis forces used during World War II in order to perpetuate the "Endless War" by keeping people busy, wasting resources for the wars, and keeping old and outdated machines and technology in service.
