The following firearms were seen in the Anime Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (translated as "When the Cicadas Cry" and released in the U.S. as "When They Cry") is an anime adaptation of a series of sound novels released by 07th Expansion. The majority of the story takes place in June of 1983 in the rural Japanese village of Hinamizawa. Most of the story arcs shown in the anime are in fact alternate versions of the same events, with the arcs starting out in a similar fashion but ending in drastically different yet equally gruesome ways.
The anime consists of three separate installments: Two television series ("Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai"), and a five episode OVA ("Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei"). All three are included in this article.
Note: Due to the nature of the series, this article may contain some spoilers.
Handguns
Tokarev TT-33
Two pistols that looks like Tokarev TT-33 pistols are seen; used briefly by a member of the Yamainu, and later by Akasaka.
The Tokarev is mentioned in the novel of Higurashi as the weapon of the Sonozaki clan's hitmen.

Nambu Type 14
A Japanese solder stationed in the Hinamizawa area during WWII is seen with a Nambu Type 14. He succumbs to the Hinamizawa Syndrome, and attacks his fellow solders with his sidearm.
Smith & Wesson 39
The Yamainu soldiers' standard sidearms are Smith & Wesson 39 pistols. Occasionally these weapons are seen outfitted with sound suppressors, making them Mk.22 "Hush Puppy"s. One S&W 39 is given to Takano by the leader of the Yamainu.
M1911
Takano's weapon of choice is an M1911.
Trivia: In the novel and videogame version of Higurashi, Takano Uses a Mauser C96 M712 variant.
Rifles
AK-47
Shion is seen using an AK-47 that she retrieves from the Sonozaki family armory.
M16A2
The soldiers from the special forces Banken carry M16A2 rifles outfitted with short 20 round magazines.

Toy Guns
Cork Rifle
Used by Mion at a shooting gallery booth at the Cotton Drifting Festival.
Airsoft Beretta 92
Mion (and occasionally her twin, Shion) is often seen with a generic airsoft pistol in a shoulder holster. She never draws it in the anime, and it's only real purpose is to help solidify her "tomboy" image.
Water Gun
