Sten Mk I, Sten Mk III
Several of the commandos bring Sten Mk I and Sten Mk III's with them (some fitted with a simplified production stock), and use them often against German soldiers. Andrea Stavros (Anthony Quinn) uses a Sten gun at the beginnig of the film when a German patrol boat arrives at the Greek fishing boat boat. He kills several Germans with it who climb aboard his boat and also kills several Germans with the same gun in the end gunbattle. Spyros Pappadimos (James Darren) kills several Germans and then confronts their officer (who also has a Sten gun. How the officer got one is unknown) with the Sten. All scenes where an actor actually fires a Sten gun, a prop gun is actually used that is fitted with a small flame device to represent the guns flash (in slow motion you can see that the actors aren't actually pressing the guns trigger in time with the shots).
Mosin Nagant
Andrea carries a Mosin-Nagant sniper rifle, and kills four Germans with it when they climb the hill. After that, he never fires it again but is seen holding it several times.
Bren gun
On the fishing boat, Pappadimos keeps a Bren gun hidden under a blanket when the German patrol boat arrives. When the Germans discover who they are, Pappadimos whips out the Bren and guns down several soldiers. The Bren is never seen after that.
MP40
The common weapon of the German Army in the film is the MP40, which is unrealistic in most films.
Mauser Karabiner 98k
Some Germans use Mauser rifles, but the MP40 is far more common in the film.
Mauser M1934
Spyro Papadimos is armed with a suppressed Mauser M1934, he is first seen on the quayside of Castel Rosso fitting the suppressor. When Mallory orders Maria Papadimos and Butcher Brown to steal a motor launch, Spyro hands the gun to his sister. But after she shoots the traitor Mallory takes it off her and uses it when he and Miller infiltrate the fort. Lt. Colonel Muesel (Walter Gotell) also uses a Mauser M1934 as his sidearm. After overpowering Muesel, Keith Mallory (Gregory Peck) appropriates his Mauser and uses it on some unsuspecting Germans who stop to help them and to threaten the traitor when they are revealed.
Luger P08
When the group is captured, SS Captain Sessler (George Mikell) uses a Luger to torture Franklin by hitting his injured leg with it.
Beretta M1934
Pappadimos's sidearm is a Beretta M1934 which he always uses with a silencer attatched. In the end gunbattle, he gives the Beretta to his sister, Maria (Irene Pappas) so she can be armed in the end gunbattle. *this information is incorrect see discussion
Smith and Wesson M1917
The commandos bring Smith and Wesson M1917s as their sidearms. Roy Franklin (Anthony Quayle) attempts to commit suicide with one but is stopped by Mallory.
Webley Mk IV
In the beginning of the film, when Mallory recruits Andrea, he pulls out a Webley from his shoulder holster but then puts it back when he recognizes Mallory.
