Revision as of 07:23, 19 March 2010
JAG was an American military adventure show that ran from 1995 to 2005. It ran for 1 year on NBC and then for 9 years on CBS. The show primarily dealt with US Navy and Marine lawyers in the Judge Advocate General Corps investigating and prosecuting cases involving military law. It starred David James Elliott as Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr., a former F-14 pilot turned JAG lawyer. The creator of the show was Donald Bellisario, who created several popular action shows including Magnum, P.I. and Airwolf. NCIS is a spinoff of this show.
The following weapons were used in the television series JAG:
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS (standing in the M9) is the standard Issue sidearm for the US military and is used in various episodes throughout JAG by Lieutenant Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott), Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" Mackenzie (Catherine Bell) and Admiral A.J. Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) as well as various other US Military personnel.
Beretta 950 Jetfire
An engraved Beretta 950 Jetfire is seen given to Adm. Chegwidden by his ex-wife Marcella (Barbara Carrera) in the Season 4's "Going After Francesca". It is later used by Francesca (Guiliana Santini) in the same episode.
Colt M1911A1
A Colt M1911A1 is used by Jason Magida in the Season 2 episode "Secrets" when he holds the JAG staff hostage and Admiral Chegwidden in "Ghosts" to hold Osbourne at gun point. Also used by then Lieutenant Boone in "A Separate Peace" to shoot and kill An Le Tam.
Browning Hi-Power
The Browning Hi-Power is used by British Forces in Season 1's "Trinity".
Smith & Wesson 5906
A Smith & Wesson 5906 was the sidearm used by the local sheriff's deputies in Season 1's "Survivors".
Smith & Wesson 4006
A Smith & Wesson 4006 is used by the Italian mobster Luscino in Season 4's "Going After Francesca".
Norinco Type 54 Pistol
Norinco Type 54's are seen being carried and used by Chinese officers in Season 1's "Secrets".
Glock 17
Harm is seen firing a Glock 17 during the Season 4 episode "Embassy".
Shotguns
Remington 870 Shotgun
A Remington 870 Shotgun with a sawed barrel and stock is found and used by Rabb in Season 1's "Sightings".
Mossberg 500
Rabb uses a Mossberg 500 in the Season 2 episode "A Game of Go".
Mossberg 590
Adm. Chegwidden and Harm fire Mossberg 590 shotguns in the Season 4 episode "Going After Francesca".
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5N
Heckler & Koch MP5N's are seen in episodes featuring Navy SEALs, with and without suppressors.
Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW
The Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW is seen used frequently over the series, most notably by Rabb to rescue Lieutenant Painter in the Season 1 episode "Defensive Action" and to prove his point by shooting a courtroom ceiling in the Season 2 episode "Heroes". These are MP5K-PDWs due to their 3 lug barrels and folded stock.
MAC-11
Rabb and several bodyguards were armed with MAC-11s in the season 1 episode "War Cries".
SA Vz.61 Skorpion
The SA Vz.61 Skorpion is seen being used by Russian Secret Service in Season 1's "Hemlock", and by members of The Shining Path in Season 1's "War Cries".
Sterling SMG
Sterling SMG's are used by British Forces in Season 2's "Trinity".
Assault Rifles
M4A1 Carbine
The M4 Carbine is seen being used by Marines in the episodes "The Boast" and "Death at the Mosque", with and without various attachments.
M16
M16's are frequently seen in the flashbacks to Vietnam, such as in the episode "Survivors".
M16 rifle series
Various styles of the M16 rifle series appeared in JAG during the show's long run. M16A1s with A2 hand guards were frequently used to simulate M16A2s. These guns make sense in JAG, because the military does use a lot of "Frankenstein" M16s. The Air Force being the worst offender, but they can be found in service with all branches.
Can also be seen in several episodes of Season 7 including "Code of Conduct" (being used by Navy SEALs), "Tribunal" (incorrectly shown being used by US Army Special Forces), and "In Country" (seen being carried by Harm, Mac, and Gunnery Sgt. Galindez (Randy Vasquez).
CAR-15 Rifle with a M203 grenade launcher
Occasionally seen being carried by various members of the US armed forces on the show. Notice how the M203 barrel is the same length as the rifle barrel. If you enlarge the photo you can see it has a sound moderator.
AK Variants
Kalashnikov and Norinco Rifles have been seen during the show's ten seasons. In the episodes set in Russia, Chechnya, Cuba, Iraq, China, etc, as well as flashbacks to the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Cold War, many varieties of Kalashnikov rifles have been seen, as well as the Chinese manufactured Norinco rifles. Unlike most movies and television shows JAG was usually pretty accurate about having the right rifle type for the locations.
FN FAL
The FN FAL is used by British Forces in Season 2's "Trinity".
Rifles
M40A1 sniper rifle
|Gunnery Sgt. Crockett (Stephen McHattie) takes aim with anM40A1 sniper rifle in Season 1's "High Ground".
Browning 308
A Browning 308 was the personal hunting rifle of one of Lieutenant Commander Rabb's clients in "Survivors".
Heavy Weapons
Browning M2
In the Season 1 episode "War Cries", the Browning M2 50 cal is fired by Gunnery Sgt. Granger (John Wesley Shipp).
M249 SAW
The M249 SAW is used by Marines when advancing to their target in "Death at the Mosque"
FIM-92A Stinger
A FIM-92A Stinger was stolen and used in the season 1 episode "Brig Break".
Type 69 RPG
The Type 69 RPG was used by Shining Path terrorists in the season 1 episode "War Cries".
