Ransom is a 1996 thriller starring Mel Gibson as a airline tycoon whose son is kidnapped. Directed by Ron Howard (The Da Vinci Code).
WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!
The following weapons are seen in the film Ransom:
Glock 19
NYPD Detective Jimmy Shaker (Gary Sinise) carries a 2nd Generation Glock 19 as his sidearm throughout the film. Uniformed NYPD officers also are seen carrying Glocks.
Smith & Wesson Model 36
Maris Connor (Lili Taylor) is seen loading and firing a stainless Smith & Wesson Model 36 in the film. A different S&W is seen being put in the hands of one of the kidnappers.
Beretta 84 "Cheetah"
Detective Jimmy Shaker carries a .380 ACP Beretta 84 "Cheetah" as a backup gun, but only has it when going to Tom Mullen's house. At the end of the film, Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson) is seen brandishing it.
Smith & Wesson Model 64
Jimmy Shaker also is seen carrying a .38 Smith & Wesson Model 64 in an ankle holster.
Smith & Wesson 659
FBI Special Agent Lonnie Hawkins (Delroy Lindo) carries a Smith & Wesson 659 as his sidearm in this film. Other uniformed NYPD uniformed police and other FBI also are seen drawing their 659 handguns. The 659 is somewhat anachronistic for the FBI as the Bureau ceased using 9x19mm pistols in 1988, and moved to the 10mm caliber pistols in 1991, but during this transition agents that were issued the S&W 659 were able to continue carrying it if they chose to.
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Uniformed NYPD officers carry the Smith & Wesson Model 10 with the 4" Heavy Barrel. This would be correct for the time period. The NYPD had transitioned to semi-automatic handguns in 1993, but allowed those officers employed before the transition to continue to carry the revolver if they so desired.
M1911A1
Cubby Barnes (Donnie Wahlberg) threatens Mullen with an M1911A1 as he retrieves the ransom.
MP5A3
FBI HRT members and NYPD ESU officers are seen armed with MP5A3s.
Ithaca 37
An NYPD ESU officer is seen armed with an Ithaca 37 shotgun with an extended barrel and tactical forelight as the ESU clears a house.
Ruger Mini-14
Another NYPD ESU officer is seen armed with a Ruger Mini-14 as the ESU clears a house.
M16A2
FBI Special Agent Jack Sickler (Michael Gaston) is seen firing a M16A2 fitted with a night vision scope and tactical light from a helicopter during a shootout with one of the kidnappers.
