The Sniper (神鎗手) is an upcoming 2009 Hong Kong action thriller film directed by Dante Lam and starring Richie Ren, Edison Chen and Huang Xiaoming, as top snipers for the Hong Kong Police Force. The film was originally set to be released in May 2008, but was delayed due to the Edison Chen photo scandal.
Hi, this is my first time doing this and I have no clue if I am doing this right so go easy on the remarks and criticism. --ThePotShot 05:28, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. Welcome to IMFDB. I'm keeping these discussions on the movie page for now, and not moving them to discussion page for the time being just so that no one misses them.
- QUESTION: Has this movie been released on DVD yet? I've checked and this film officially has only been screened at film festivals. If not these are Bootleg images and not allowed on IMFDB. We have a Zero Tolerance for bootlegs, being that we have many people who work in the movie industry (myself included) who work on this site. If it has then I hope that you or someone buys the DVD or rents it for some screencaps. Your quality from the torrent stream isn't bad, but that type of data transfer always makes me nervous as to the legality of the image. Illegally distributing movies over streaming video is still bootlegging and IMFDB won't allow any sort of illegal copy to make it's way here. I did got the DVD when I was in Hong Kong this past summer but I can't be too certain if it is bootleg or not as it was purchased in a store. The screen shots that were there were from a site and I just removed them, sorry about that. My DVD drive on my PC is busted right now but once I get that fixed, I will get screen shots from the DVD.
The following guns were used in the movie The Sniper
Hand Gun
The following list shows the handguns used by the Hong Kong Police, Hong Kong SDU, and the Triads (not too sure what affiliation the bad guys are).
M10
Seen in the hands of OJ before he joined the SDU Sniper unit, OJ's inexperienced rookie partner, Hartman during the rescue scene and the Hong Kong PTU officers during action scenes
P228
Seen in the hands of Hartman Fong (Richie Ren) during the opening stakeout scene. He uses it to save OJ when OJ had trouble trying to deal with several machete wielding Triads.
M92FS
Carried by Er Ge's boss.
P99
Carried by Er Ge (Big Head)(Kai Chi Liu) during the elevator scene, later drops it when shot in the arm by OJ. Hartman also manages to obtain one during the elevator scene.
GLOCK17
Seen briefly in the hands of Ching during the elevator scene. Surprisingly Ching also demostrates his fast reloading skills when using the Glock 17
PP
Submachine Gun
MP5
Used by the SDU during a hostage situation accidently caused by Hartman Fong who attempted to follow Ching but encountered Er Ge and his boss which the ladder resulted in. It is also used by one of the Hong Kong PTU officers guarding the prison convoy and another officer during the apartment shootout.
MP9
Used by one of Er Ge's henchmen.
Assault Rifle
Micro Galil
Used by Er Ge (Big Head)(Kai Chi Liu) during the rescue scene.
Shotgun
M870
Seen in the hands of the Hong Kong PTU.
Sniper Rifle
PSG1
you can see this not a PSG1 , the body is G3 and the G3 trigger pack - Doesn't that make it an MSG-90?
M700AICS
Primary weapon of choice for Shane (Bowie Lam) one of Hartman Fong's SDU Sniper teammates.
EDIT :
Pretty sure that the weapon in the movie is a variant of the L96 rather than the M700. In this frame for instance u can clearly see the weapon hasn't got a arch in the shoulder piece and there's no rectangle like shape on the side of the gun. Also the ammo clipvin the movie is black and smaller just like the l96 ammo clip. furthermore all l96 variants have the bipods attached right underneat the barrel at the front of the gun. The M700 bipod is attached under the entire rifle.
