Revision as of 21:32, 28 September 2009
The following weapons appear in the game ArmA II
ArmA II is the sequel to ArmA: Combat Operations and the spiritual successor to Operation Flashpoint. The game revolves around a war in the fictional ex-Soviet republic of Chernarus, which is being fought over by the government, communist rebels, the United States and the Russian Federation. In total there are around 81 weapon variants available in the game.
Pistols
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 pistol is the standard sidearm of Marine Force Recon units.
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM pistol is the standard sidearm for most of the factions involved in the game, including the Russian Federation, Chernarussian Defence Forces, Chendaki rebels and NAPA insurgents. A suppressed version is also used by Russian Spetznaz soldiers.
Beretta M9
The Beretta M9 pistol is the standard sidearm of the United States Marine Corps. Typically carried by squad leaders and officers, a suppressed version of the pistol is also used by members of Team Razor.
Sub-Machine guns
Heckler & Koch MP5SD6
The MP5SD6 submachine gun, distinguished by the presence of single, burst and auto firing modes and a Navy trigger group, is available in the game, though it is not standard equipment among any of the factions.
Heckler & Koch MP5A5
The MP5A5 submachine gun is used by USMC pilots.
PP-19 Bizon
The PP-19 Bizon submachine gun makes a return from Operation Flashpoint, and is used by Russian Spetznaz anti-tank soldiers and sappers.
Assault Rifles
AKM
The AKM rifle is carried by various ChKDZ insurgent and NAPA guerrilla units.
AKMS
The AKMS rifle is also commonly seen in the hands of ChKDZ insurgents, NAPA guerrillas and CDF militia soldiers. A special gold version of the rifle (similar to the special AK-47 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) is also programmed to occasionally appear in the hands of insurgents as an easter egg.
AK-74
The AK-74 rifle appears in a standard variant and one fitted with a GP-30 grenade launcher, and serves as the standard weapon of the Chernarussian Defence Forces. Some ChKDZ and NAPA units also use AK-74s.
AKS-74
The AKS-74 is available either with a Kobra red dot sight or a PSO-1 scope, and is used by squad leaders in the CDF, ChKDZ and NAPA factions.
AKS-74U
The AKS-74U is used by tank crew and pilots in the CDF, ChKDZ, NAPA and Russian Army factions, as well as by Spetznaz operators (in the form of the silenced AKS-74UN version).
AK-107
The AK-107 is the standard rifle of the Russian Army and MVD forces, although in real life they continue to use the AK-74M. The weapon is available with either Kobra or PSO-1 optics and can mount a GP-30 grenade launcher.
M16A2
The M16A2 rifle is available as a weapon in the game, though it is not normally used by any of the factions. A version with the M203 grenade launcher is also available.
M16A4
The M16A4 rifle is the standard rifle of the United States Marine Corps, and is available in many variations. The weapon is available with either Aimpoint M68 CCO or Trijicon ACOG sights and can also come with a M203 grenade launcher.
M4A1
M4A1 carbines are used by USMC vehicle crews, as well as by most of the Force Recon operators. The M4A1 has the most variations of any of the weapons in the game, including versions with Aimpoint, ACOG and EOTech sights, M203 grenade launchers or suppressor.
Heckler & Koch G36
The Heckler & Koch G36 rifle is not used by any of the game's factions (with the exception of the G36C that is used by a CDhKZ faction leader), but is available in the mission editor for single or multiplayer scenarios. Three versions are available: the G36A with ZF 3x4° dual optical sights, the G36K and the two versions of the G36C, including one with a suppressor and an EOTech sight.
Heckler & Koch XM8
Also available in the mission editor is the Heckler & Koch XM8, a weapon originally intended for ArmA: Combat Operations that was later ported to ArmA II. Many versions are available, including the standard XM8, one with a Heckler & Koch M320 grenade launcher, the XM8 compact and the XM8 Marksman.
Sniper Rifles
M14 DMR
The M14 DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) is the standard rifle of USMC marksmen, and is also used by Force Recon sniper Staff Sergeant Randall "Ice Cold" Sykes.
M24
The Remington M24 Sniper Rifle is another weapon that has been carried over from ArmA:Combat Operations and is available in the mission editor.
