- If I recall correctly, the MP was armed, rather incorrectly I might add, with some variant of the SIG P-220 series.  I will attempt to confirmn this before the end of this night.  While the P-228 is used by many of the armed forces' criminal investigative services, it is my understanding that at least the majority of the military's various branches military police forces(or equivalent, i.e. Shore Patrol, Air Police) are armed with the standard Beretta M9 sidearm, and not a SIG P-220 series pistol.

The Happening (2008)

The following guns were used in the film The Happening:

SIG-Sauer P226

A Philadelphia police officer pulls out a SIG-Sauer P226 to kill himself when the effect hits Rittenhouse Park. This pistol is picked up and used by others.

Elliot Moore (Mark Wahlberg) rushes to stop a Mossberg 500 Field Shotgun from shooting a kid - 12 gauge. The magazine end cap, the barrel mount tips off the Mossberg ancestry. This version has a 28" ribbed field barrel.

The Mossberg 500 Field Shotgun after getting kid guts all over the doorframe - 12 gauge.

Unknown rifle

An unidentifiable rifle is seen poking out of a window. It appears to be a heavy barreled .308 variant of some sort with no rifle front sights. Being that we only see the end of the barrel, it could be anything from a Remington 700V to a Thompson Contender.

The barrel of an unknown rifle prepares to shoot one of the kids.

Iver Johnson M1 Carbine

Some men are arming themselves in Fairfield, Nebraska as they watch the crisis unfolding on the television set. An Iver Johnson M1 Carbine (with late model heat shield and wooden foregrip) is seen on a table near the television. This M1 Carbine is the standard length barrel, but has an Iver Johnson Enforcer stock, i.e. twin pistol grips and no buttstock. A Second M1 Carbine with an Enforcer stock set up is seen leaning against a trunk near the cooler.

An Iver Johnson M1 Carbine (with an Enforcer pistol stock) is seen on the table, surrounded by ammunition boxes and shotgun shells - .30 carbine

MGC M16

One of the men locks and loads a MGC M16 Replica rifle updated with an A1 "birdcage" Flash hider, A2 handguards and a 30 round magazine.

The man closest to the television set locks and loads an MGC M16 Replica rifle with A2 Handguards. The fake forward assist is the giveaway.

Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine

His friend behind him locks and loads what looks to be a Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine - 5.56mm. It is a heavy barreled 16" carbine that doesn't have the step down found on the M4 style barrels. It could be anything from a Bushmaster HB Carbine to a Pac West Commando, so the Colt nomenclature will be used as a default.

AK-47

Also in Fairfield, NE, a man, sitting near a cooler, is loading up an AK-47 variant.

A man in the back locks and loads an AK-47 variant - 7.62x39mm

M1911A1

Seen in the Fairfield segment, the man in the back adjusts his shoulder holster rig. During his adjustment we can see that it is an M1911 variant.

Winchester Model 1300 Shotgun

Seen near the cooler in the garage.

Unidentified Bolt Action Rifle

Could be a Sako hunter, but not verified at this point. It is yet another firearm near the cooler in the garage.

Unidentified Bull Barreled Rifle

The man holding the AK-47 also has a Bull barreled rifle near his legs. Again it is impossible to identify other than general type.

Smith & Wesson 916A Shotgun

Also in Fairfield, NE, a S&W 916A Shotgun is leaning against the wall to the right (see pic)

Remington 870 Field Shotgun

Also in Fairfield, NE, a Remington 870 Field Shotgun with ribbed 28" barrel and sporting wood is leaning against the wall to the right (see pic)

Beretta M9

An MP is seen with his service pistol holstered. Only the butt is seen while holstered, and it is not drawn except when the MP kills himself offscreen, when a group of survivors are walking through a field and get caught in the viral wind.
