Veteran character actor DeForest Kelley had a long career before his famous stint as Dr. McCoy in Star Trek. He would commonly play Cowboys (or in many cases Doctors (!)) in many B&W Television shows of the 1950s like "Bonanza", "Laredo", "Have Gun - Will Travel", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Rawhide" and "Gunsmoke" and would play Gangsters or G-Men in many crime or police thrillers. Interestingly enough, DeForest Kelley faced off with the Earps in the Star Trek Episode "Way of the Gun" but previously he played Morgan Earp in the 1957 movie "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral". A full filmography of his use of firearms during his career would be daunting, since so many of his appearances as gunfighters, criminals or law enforcement officers are on single episodes of many classic 1950s television shows.
DeForest Kelley can be seen using the following weapons in the following films and television series:
Film
- Colt Detective Special as Vince Grayson in Fear in the Night (1947)
- Colt Single Action Army as Curley Burne in Warlock (1959)
Television
- Single Action Army as Dr. Leonard McCoy in Star Trek (episode: "Spectre of the Gun") (1968)
- Colt 1921AC Thompson as Dr. Leonard McCoy in Star Trek (episode: "A Piece of the Action") (1968)
- Single Action Army as Morgan Earp in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957)
