Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the 2023 Western streaming series starring David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves, the first black Deputy U.S. Marshal in United States history west of the Mississippi River. Based on actual events, the series follows Reeves from his life as an enslaved servant to a Confederate Cavalry Colonel during the American Civil War to his time apprehending outlaws for the U.S. Marshal Service in the Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) during the time of the Wild West.
