The Man Who Never Was is a 1956 British movie directed by Ronald Neame, based on the 1954 book of the same name by Ewen Montagu. Montagu also makes a cameo appearance in the film as an air marshal. The film, which largely follows the real-life events of Operation Mincemeat as described in the non-fiction book, tells how a deception operation is prepared and carried out by British intelligence during World War II that was intended to convince the Axis powers that Operation Husky (the Allied invasion of Sicily) would take place elsewhere.
The story was also told in the 2022 movie Operation Mincemeat starring Colin Firth as Lt. Cmdr. Ewen Montagu.
