The Last Hard Men is a 1976 Western directed by Andrew V. McLaglen and based on the novel by Brian Garfield (Hopscotch, Death Wish). Charlton Heston stars as Captain Sam Burgade, a retired Arizona Ranger, and James Coburn co-stars as Burgade's old enemy Zach Provo, who was sent to prison by Burgade, but manages to escape and now seeks revenge.
The following weapons were used in the film The Last Hard Men:
Single Action Army revolvers are used by most of Provo's men and various deputies and posse members. They are both of "Artillery" and "Quick-Draw" models.
Colt New Service Revolver
Colt New Service revolver is a personal sidearm of Captain Sam Burgade (Charlton Heston). Sheriff Noel Nye (Michael Parks), some deputies and several of Provo's men also carry Colt New Service revolvers.
Colt M1911 Pistol
Zach Provo (James Coburn) takes a Colt M1911 pistol in general store and uses it as his personal sidearm. The story takes place in 1909 so the appearance of M1911 is anachronistic.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
Winchester Model 1897 shotguns are seen in hands of prison guards in the opening scene. Later these shotguns, taken from killed guards, are used by Zach Provo (James Coburn) and his second-in-command Cesar Menendez (Jorge Rivero).
