In Love and War is a 1996 romantic war drama based on the true story of a young Ernest Hemingway severely wounded while serving as an ambulance driver during World War I and his subsequent encounter with Agnes von Kurowsky, an American nurse who assisted in bringing him back to health and whose relationship inspired the character Catherine Barkley in Hemingway's novel A Farewell to Arms. Directed by Richard Attenborough, the film stars Chris O'Donnell as Hemingway and Sandra Bullock as von Kurowsky.
The following weapons were used in the film In Love and War:
Steyr Mannlicher M1895
Austro-Hungarian and Italian troops are seen carrying Steyr Mannlicher M1895 rifles. This rifle is also seen in the hands of Ernest Hemingway (Chris O'Donnell).
Carcano M1891
Some Italian soldiers can also be seen with accurate Carcano M91 rifles.
Vickers Mk. I
When Hemingway visits the troops, a Vickers machine gun is also briefly seen carried by a soldier in the trenches.
