Atomic Heart is a single-player, first-person shooter with several roleplaying mechanics, developed by Mundfish Studios and published by Focus Entertainment and VK Play. The game is set in the alternative 1955 Soviet Union, where, in 1936, a scientist named Dmitry Sechenov developed a liquidized programmable module called the Polymer that turned the Soviet Union into a world superpower. Players take control of Agent P-3 or Major Sergey Alekseyevich Nechayev, who is tasked assisting Dr. Dmitry Sechenov with the launch of the Kollektiv 2.0. However, things go South as the rouge agent sabotages the launch and turns all robots against their human masters. Major, alongside his AI Glove companion CHARLES and other characters, must stop the haywire robots and figure out the large threat that looms over the Soviet Utopia.
During the development of the Atomic Heart, developers noted that they took direct inspiration from Bioshock Series, as Major's glove grants powers such as telekinesis, gel freezing, and electricity to stun the enemies that can also be found in the Bioshock series as Plasmids or Vigors. Like Bioshock, the arsenal available to the player is limited, with a focus on melee weapons. All upgrades are either craftable or can be purchased at a rather horny vending machine.
Important Note: Following the long development timeline of this game, many guns like PTRS-41 and others were either scrapped or left on the cutting floor.
