It's also possible, that Japan supports British soldiers at those time by firearms supplying to the British army.

Matchlock Musket
Numerous soldiers, include Captain John Alden (Shane West) can be seen armed with the Matchlock Muskets at "The Vow" (S1E01). Giles Corey (Kevin Tighe) briefly holds the matchlock musket at the same episode.
