The Walther Concealed Carry Pistol (CCP) is a Walther Arms pistol for the American concealed carry market. The CCP is unusual for using a gas-delayed blowback system (similar to the Steyr GB) instead of the more common Browning-Whiting action. This allows the slide to be more easily operated by those with reduced grip strength (primarily females, elderly, and the disabled), reducing recoil and allows the barrel to be fixed for greater accuracy. The drawback to this system is greater heat buildup, but this is considered negligible for a carry gun, as it would be extremely unusual to carry (let alone fire) more than 17 rounds when used for its intended purpose.
Following issues with the original production run (attributed to being made in a newly acquired factory not previously used for firearms), it was replaced with the Walther CCP M2 in 2018. This update also changed the disassembly method to be toolless, and made the cocking indicator more prominent.
