Nice, but where's the trigger? This article or section is incomplete. You can help IMFDB by expanding it. |
The following guns were used in the movie American Gangster
M1911A1
A pair were carried by Frank Lucas's bodyguard, Doc(Ruben Santiago-Hudson).
-actually, looks like browning hi powers holstered, but he draws a 1911 to fire on assassins later.
Browning Hi-Power
Used by Frank Lucas.
This hero blank-fire Browning Hi-Power clone, manufactured by FEN, was used by Denzel Washington as Frank Lucas in the Ridley Scott film American Gangster. Inspired by a real-life events, American Gangster tells the story of notorious Harlem gangster Frank Lucas and his organization in the 1970s.
This pistol is a Browning Hi-Power clone manufactured by FEN. It is chrome plated with wood grips, and has been converted for blank fire. During production the gun was set up as a "solid plug" version, meaning the barrel was completely blocked off so the gun could safely be fired close to a person's skin. This was necessary for the shocking scene in the film where Washington, as Lucas, shoots a rival gangster in the forehead, and then places the gun on his chest.
This was the only FEN pistol rented to the production and so therefore is the one seen on screen in every shot. It can be screen matched by the woodgrain of the grips and small scratches on the frame.
Unknown Revolver
Smith & Wesson Model 19
NYPD Detective Trupo (Josh Brolin) uses a Smith & Wesson Model 19 "Snubbie" throughout the movie.
Detective Roberts uses a snub nosed revolver as a service weapon. Detective Trupo (Josh Brolin) uses one to kill Frank's Dog and commit suicide.
Rohm RG-24
This small .22lr is basically the lorcin/jennings/davis of Germany. It is a low quality pot metal gun generally selling for less than 30$. Frank's Cousin uses it to shoot and injure a woman.
Smith and Wesson Model 10
Carried by a police officer during drug raid. What looks like snub nosed model 10s are carried by Officers with Detective Roberts.
Beretta 3032 Tomcat
The Beretta Tomcat is chambered in .32 ACP, and was first manufactured in 1979 as a carry or holdout pistol. It was used by one of Lucas's party guests to wound another with a leg shot. It is not the 950 Jetfire because of the rounded trigger guard and higher profile front site.
This is a production flaw in that the events depicted are meant to have taken place in the mid 70's whereas the Tomcat was not invented by Beretta until 1979.
Ingram MAC-10
Carried by one of the drive by shooters during a assassination attempt on Frank and his wife
Colt Python
This actually looks more like a S&W 586 than a Python as the guard, grips, and sights look like those of a Smith, and the vent ribs are not seen so it's likely that there was just a continuity error in the film.
No, it looks like a python because it is a python. The shot is in bad light and the gun is at an angle, making it very difficult to see the vent ribs. Clearly not a Smith.
NEF SB-1
Various Break Action Shotguns
Seen on Frank's Table.
CAR-15
Carried by Frank when dealing with the Nationalist heroin producers.
M-16A1
M-16A1 with M203 Grenade Launcher
AKM
Ithaca 37
This is the weapon carried by Detective Roberts and various other police officers during the raid on Franks heroin distribution center and by a thug at the center.
Sawed off Double Barrel Shotgun
Used by Frank's doorman at the heroin plant. He has it loaded with birdshot, and foolishy tries to shoot it through a steel door, which results in serious injuries on him and the girls in the room when the shot ricochets.
Double Barreled Shotgun
A standard double barrel is held by one of Lucas's Guards at Heroin Processing Center.
Uzi
Used by one of the guards at Frank's heroin plant
Sterling Submachine Gun
Used by one of the guards at Frank's heroin plant
M60 Machine Gun
Briefly seen held by soldier in vietnam.
Colt New Service
Frank Lucas's Relative uses a colt new service during shootout at the drug factory.
