Revision as of 02:03, 25 July 2009
The following weapons were used in the television series Miami Vice:
SIG-Sauer P220
Don Johnson uses a SIG-Sauer P220 in the pilot episode of the show. Considering that the pilot episode was filmed in the spring of 1984 the model used would most likely have been a first generation "American" model.
- Nope. The improved "American" model (with the 1911-style mag release that was introduced on the P226) didn't come out until 1986-87. All P220s available in 1984 (when the Pilot was filmed) would have had the heel-clip magazine release.
So it would have been the European model then. Jcordell
- It was most likely a Browning BDA, which is what Browning used to call the P220 in the early-80s when they were the only company in the U.S. importing it.
- Nope. The pistol is seen from the right side in one particular scene of the pilot episode where Don Johnson is holding a driver at gun point. The pistol is clearly marked "P220" and does not have the distinct round shape at the front of the slide like the Browning BDA. It is definately a Sig likely manufactured in West Germany and imported via New Hampshire.
M60 machine gun
An M60 can be seen in the back of a Van in the start of an episode.
Dornaus & Dixon Bren Ten
Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) uses a Bren Ten in the first and second seasons of the show. It was essentially a beefed-up CZ 75 chambered for the original 10mm Norma Auto cartridge which differs slightly in case length from later 10mm rounds. This round was HOT, and consequently damaged the guns. In the '80s this was a new cartridge, but is rarely used in modern day. The company of Dornaus& Dixon was an ill-fated one, and since the producers of the Miami Vice-series would not use discontinued guns, it was replaced with the S&W 645 auto pistol
- I remember reading somewhere, I believe it was in Soldier of Fortune, that, towards the end, the manufacturer proved so unreliable that weapons were being shipped without mags. Additionally there was a tale that, in one episode Johnson does a combat reload leaving the mag on the ground allegedly viewers returned to the scene of the episode to look for it due to its rarity. Smith & Wesson 645
Used by Don Johnson from the 3rd and 4th seasons of the show
Smith & Wesson 4506
Used by Don Johnson in the last season of the show
Detonics Combatmaster
Carried by Dohn Johnson as a backup gun, in an ankle holster. In reality the Detonics would have been a substantial handgun to carry in an ankle holster.
Ithaca 37 Stakeout
Carried by Philip Michael Thomas, from the 2nd season of the show. This is a custom weapon with a venilated barrel shroud and a vertical foregrip. Years before the Serbu Super Shorty. [[:The Actual Ithaca 37 used by Philip Michael Thomas in Miami Vice!:<img src="http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5056/l1030201wqe9.jpg"
Colt Peacekeeper Mk V
A 6-inch barrel version of this revolver is used by Lt. Castillo (Edward James Olmos) in most episodes. If it was a Python it would have a full lug running under the barrel. The Mk V had the ventilated top barrel rib and the half lug for the ejector rod.
Star 30 PK
This spanish, 9 mm pistol, can be seen in the episode "the prodigal son"
Star PD
Seen in episode "Evan"
Star Z-70 B submachine gun
This 9 mm SMG, used in the past by the spanish military and police, can be seen in another episode
Astra Constable
An engraved Astra Constable can be seen in one episode
Taser weapon
An early Taser weapon can be seen used in the same episode which the Star Z-70 submachine gun is seen.
.44 AutoMag
Seen in another episode ("Definitely Miami", I think)
Mossberg 500 Bullpup shotgun
This shotgun has been seen in several episodes, often wielded by Stan Zwiteck.
Browning Hi-Power
used by Michael Talbott in the role of Det. Stanley "Stan" Switek
Type: Handgun
Colt Government
Seen in several episodes. We can see here a customized series 80 Government, with muzzle brake, adjustable sights, enlarged safety lever, etc. It apears to be a "long slide" variation.(episode "When Irish Eyes Are Crying").
As stated in the dialoge this pistol was customized and provided by custom gunsmith Richard Heinie.
Taurus PT92
Seen in many episodes
Detonics Scoremaster
Used by Philip Michael Thomas and Edward James Olmos in "The Prodigal Son" episode, and in several other episodes
Charter Arms Undercover
We can see this .38 spl revolver in one episode
Custom N-Frame S&W Revolver
This particular revolver is outfitted with a Bo-Mar rib. An aftermarket modification popular with competitive shooters back in the seventies and eighties.
- It looks like a S&W Model 29. - Gunmaster45
Colt Single Action Army
Country singer Willie Nelson used this gun in his role of a Texas Ranger in the episode "el viejo"
Detonics Pocket 9
Discontinued pistol, used as a back up pistol to Sonny Crockett's Browning BDA in the pilot, in which Crockett carries the Detonics Pocket 9 in his rear waistband near the small of his back. It is also used in the episode (as shown in the screenshot) "Yankee Dollar".
Smith and Wesson 659
I think that this is the service gun of John Diehl in his role of Det. Lawrence "Larry" Zito
Smith and Wesson model 36
Used by Saundra Santiago in her role of Det. Gina Calabrese
Smith and Wesson Bodyguard
J-frame revolver carried by Philip Michael Thomas during most of the seasons
Sig Sauer P230
Used by Philip Michael Thomas in the last season
Franchi SPAS-12
A Franchi SPAS-12 is used by a hired killer (Jim Zubiena) in the episode Calderon's Return. Part 1: The Hit List It appears to have been fitted with special nickel plated parts. Also appears in the hands of a gang member in The Maze.
Smith and Wesson M76
I think this SMG was carried by at least one SWAT officer in the episode "The Maze"
M16
Seen in many episodes of the show. Used by the Miami SWAT officers in various episodes.
Uzi
An Uzi is used by the hired killer (Jim Zubiena) in the episode: Calderone's Return. Part 1: The Hit List There is some debate as to whether it was an UZI or perhaps a Ruger Mini-14 (the militarized version AC-566)with a folding stock used by the killer in the above named episode.
Beretta PM12S SMG
This Beretta submachine gun saw extensive use by various villains during the first season of the show.
Heckler & Koch G3A3
Can be seen in the begining of the episode The Prodgical Son.
Heckler & Koch HK94
The A3 model can also be seen in The Prodgical Son fitted with ventilated barrel and foregrip.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Carried by a gang member in The Maze fitted with original "slimeline" foregrip.
Sawn off double barrel shotgun
Carried by Tubbs in the first season.
Remington 870
Carried by both police and bad guys in the series.
Streetsweeper Shotgun
This gun is wielded by Stan Switek in the episodes "Victims of Circumstance" and "Freefall". Crockett also uses this gun in the final battle in "Freefall"

This gun is used by Lt. Castillo (Edward James Olmos) in the episode "When Irish Eyes Are Crying"
