F Troop is a satirical comedy set in the American West and involving the personnel of F Troop, stationed at the fictional Fort Courage; the Hekawi, a peaceful tribe of Native Americans residing in a nearby village; and occassionally the Shug, an antagonistic tribe of Native Americans. Slapstick comedy is on display in most episodes, with the principal cast performing many of their own stunts. The show is set some time near or after the end of the American Civil War. Great liberties with the timeline are taken by the show's writers; in one episode, Abraham Lincoln is still the President (1865), while in another episode, General Custer has recently lost the Battle of the Little Bighorn (1876). Regardless, many of the firearms used in the show are anachronistic.
The following weapons were used in Season 2 of the television series F Troop:
Revolvers
Single Action Army Cavalry Model
Capt. Parmenter (Ken Berry), Sgt. O'Rourke (Forrest Tucker), Cpl. Agarn (Larry Storch), troopers, Kid Vicious (also played by Ken Berry), Cpl. Matt Delaney (Victor French), and Colonel Adams (Arch Johnson) are seen with Single Action Army "Cavalry" model revolvers. Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson), Miko (Miko Mayama) and a Samurai Warrior (Mako) carry a "Cavalry" model revolver in a holster.
Single Action Army Artillery Model
Tombstone (Paul Sorenson), Pecos (George Barrows), Kid Vicious (Ken Berry) and Big Jim Parker (James Gregory) use Single Action Army "Artillery" model revolvers.
Single Action Army Quick Draw Model
Sheriff Pat Lawton (Sterling Holloway) uses a Single Action Army "Quick Draw" model.
Remington 1858 New Army
A possible continuity error occurs in Episode 4 when Pecos (George Barrows) uses a revolver resembling a Remington 1858 New Army, rather than his Single Action Army "Artillery" model. In a fantasy sequence in Episode 27, a Remington 1858 New Army is mounted on the wall of the Parmenter home.
Colt 1878 Double Action (1902 Phillipine Model)
Sgt. Ramsden (Paul Lynde) carries a Colt 1878 Double Action (1902 Phillipine Model).
Smith & Wesson Model 1 1/2 First Issue
In a fantasy sequence in Episode 27, a Smith & Wesson Model 1 1/2 First Issue revolver is mounted on the wall of the Parmenter home.
Captain Parmenter's Revolver Collection
Capt. Parmenter has a collection of revolvers mounted on the wall of his quarters throughout the series.
Rifles
Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine
Capt. Parmenter, Cpl. Agarn and troopers are armed with Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Carbines.
Springfield 1861
Unknown variants of the Springfield 1861 rifle are used by Emilio Barberini (Jay Novello) and Dmitri Agarnoff (Larry Storch).
Winchester Model 1892
Mrs. Molly Walker (Pippa Scott) and Sgt. O'Rourke are seen with a Winchester Model 1892 carbine. A rifle rack in Capt. Parmenter's quarters holds a Winchester Model 1892 Carbine. Three lever action rifles resembling the Winchester Model 1892 carbine are seen in a gun rack in the office of Sheriff Big Jim Parker.
Shotguns
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns
Sgt. O'Rourke and stagecoach guards are seen with 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns. A double barreled shotgun is also seen in a gun rack in the office of Sheriff Big Jim Parker.
Other
Prop cannon
A prop cannon is seen in Fort Courage throughout Season 2. It appears to be a prop due to the unusual barrel profile, lack of sights, lack of a knob on the cascabel, and the unusual, possibly nonfunctional elevating hardware.
