Today I watched an episode of Dangerous Assignment, "The Iron Banner Story",in which a BG uses a G43 mit Zielfernrohr. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0554160/

Bolt catch?
There is a manual bolt hold open device, alright. But some of the videos of Gewehr 43 shooting, including one by Hickok45, have the gun go "click", and the operator manually checking the chamber. Others have the bolt locking back with the emptied magazine, including the slo-mo one on Forgotten Weapons. So, does it have something to do with the magazine quality or whatever? Its appearances in Call of Duty series show it locking back on empty, but the videos seem to have disagreements. DJ_von_CAHEK (talk) 16:58, 10 June 2018 (EDT)
- The rifles were used hard and parts are probably worn, the Germans didn't really get to put them through arsenal refurbishment after the war either. It could be the followers not tripping the bolt catch due to wear or because the rifles and magazines were possibly hand fitted and the mismatch results in loose enough tolerances that they don't function correctly.
