His first leading role was in 1958 drama film Les Copains du dimanche, and he got a major success after Consider All Risks and Breathless. Among Belmondo's awards are the title of the Commander of the Ordre national du Mérite (1994), the Commander of the Légion d'honneur (2007), and the Career Achievement award of Los Angeles Film Critics Association (2010). Belmondo passed away in September 6, 2021, aged 88.
