Set decades prior to the Harry Potter series, the film follows magicians in 1920's New York. Fantastic Beasts was directed by David Yates, who also directed the last three Harry Potter installments and The Legend of Tarzan. A sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was released in November 2018 and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third feature in the series, was released in the UK and the US in April of 2022.
