At the beginning of the film Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) uses a Colt Detective Special as his main weapon until he has to check the revolver before boarding a commercial flight and never retrieving it.

Both Marvin (John Ashton) and the criminal chased by he and Walsh in the beginning have Remington 870 shotguns. Marvin's has an extended magazine tube, while the criminal carries a sawed-off variant.
